Re: SEOAL Schelule,Results & Standings
Marietta at Jackson this Saturday: A must win for Marietta to stay just one game out of first place in the league. Marietta still has games with Warren next week and then Logan on Friday. To lose any one of these games puts Logan in the top spot. Logan has Chill and Portsmouth at home next week along with the Marietta game. This is assuming Logan can beat Chilli and Portsmouth at home. (Assume nothing) Will be watching the Jackson/Marietta game.
Re: SEOAL Schelule,Results & Standings
Marietta hit a 3 pointer in the corner at the buzzer.....down by 2 points....to win at Jackson. 51-50
Marietta vs Logan for the SEOAL Championship
Jackson played pretty well and gave a tremendous effort...but their 4th loss of the season was again.....a huge heart breaker. Jackson led much of the game but were having too many turnovers off of the Marietta press. Marietta also played a great game.
Jackson has now lost to Logan twice and Marietta twice and are now 14-4....but all 4 losses they had the lead in the last 2 minutes and in 2 of them had the lead with 1 second left.
They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. No one should be any stronger than the Ironladies. Hopefully that game will be a preview to a district matchup.

Great game to watch from a fan perspective. Heartbreaker again for Jackson. 3 pointer at the buzzer to win but a game of missed opportunities. Jackson up 29-20 and a couple missed plays and Marietta gets 5 quick points. To manage the ball against the Marietta defense in the full court was a problem for Jackson. To be able to finish two games with the lead and some luck at the end of the game and Jackson could easily be without a loss this year. I suppose it is to early to talk about next year but Jackson IMO will be the team to beat in the league.Better luck to Jackson and big win for Marietta.

Great game Ironladies, tough loss, however, your class shines through! Keep your heads up, it's hard to beat a great team 3 times.
Re: SEOAL Schelule,Results & Standings
Marietta 8 10 15 18 -- 51
Jackson 10 5 17 18 -- 50
This was a staunchly contested game throughout and a great game to watch between two evenly matched teams. Both defenses, the officiating, and the free throw shooting(13/18 J and 14/17 M) were excellent. The teams combined for 17/18 on FT shooting in the 2nd half - the only miss being Erica Dawson's only miss of the day on her 12th attempt. Field goals, especially treys were at a premium. Jackson made only one trey and it was by Ridout to take a 3-0 lead. Marietta had back to back treys in the 2nd qtr by Grosel and Dawson plus two FTs to go from down 12-8 to ahead 16-12, and they were all the treys save the game winner. The defenses had a lot to do with the FGs being at a premium along with Marietta being affected, I think, by the more space behind the backboards at Jackson causing a gauging problem.
Jackson came out after half and went on a 14-2 run to go ahead 29-20, but Marietta came back with a 13-3 run in the last 2:22 of the 3rd qtr to take a 33-32 advantage to the 4th qtr. Jackson got the first four of the 4th to go up 36-33, but Marietta came back with 4 to go up 37-36, and then it was one point either way for a while until Jackson took a 44-41 lead. Marietta got good scoring inside in the 2nd half as Summers scored five deuces, and then Schramm made a 3 point play to tie it at 44. Jackson went up 46-44 with 1:34 left. Grosel tied it again at 46 with 1:21 left with two FTs, which were big to tie, and to let her get her shooting gauged for the final shot, after her most previous long shot attempt prior to that being a trey attempt from the top of the circle that barely grazed the front of the rim on a very open look.
Then freshman Poe converted both ends of the one and bonus to give Jackson a 48-46 lead with 1:06 to go. Marietta tied it again at about :50 left on a driving bank shot by Dawson. Jackson used two time-outs at :40 and :34 to get themselves out of predicaments with the Marietta defense. Then as the clock ran down, Ridout drove the lane and there was a solid collision with Summers in the lane. The official was a little late to blow the whistle, but it had to be done with that contact. He didn't have a very good angle and was reluctant on what to call. It was a shame that after a great game by the officials, especially on calling ball handling violations, for them to be in that predicament to likely decide the game. The ref first took his hands toward his hips like it was going to be a block, then raised them some as he thought some more, then called the block. Ridout made one to take the lead. Marietta called a time out and obviously called what would end up being the game winning play. Ridout made the 2nd and Marietta brought it down the right side while Grosel made her way to the left corner, the pass was on time, and the shot got off clean and hit nothing but the bottom of the net. It may not have been quite as disheartening as the Logan banker that took them out of the inside track for first place, as this was a clean make and took them out of an opportunity for 2nd place. There was justice for the officials as that last tough call ended up not deciding the game. A great game, and it would be nice for these teams to meet again with a district title on the line. But if it happens, the favor would be for Jackson as they have lost the first two in closely contested games they easily could have won.
I had the scoring:
Grosel 3 2/2 - 10
Brown 0 0/2 - 0
Dawson 6 11/12 - 24
Schramm 2 1/1 - 5
Summers 6 0/0 - 12
Cooper 1 0/0 - 2
N. Chapman 4 2/4 - 10
Ridout 6 3/3 - 16
Jenkins 5 6/7 - 16 great game
Harless 1 0/2 - 2
Poe 1 2/2 - 4
Jackson 10 5 17 18 -- 50

Re: SEOAL Schelule,Results & Standings
On a better note IMO it would be great to have the 6th grader that sang OUR national anthem at the Logan / Chilli game the other night due the same at the super bowl. This could be done in place of Aguilra probably doing her own personal impression of OUR national anthem. She (6th grader)did a great job, represents OUR future and puts many things in perspective. Congrats to her.

Im not quite sure what you mean by class? I was there and didn't see anything unusual. I personally think he should be coach of the year. He's one game away from sharing the league title. I also think they have the POY in Megan Grosel.
