Mid-season POY SOC I - SOC II
Re: Mid-season POY SOC I - SOC II
SOC I, I would mention two girls from Clay. They were supposed to be in a rebuilding year with no seniors on the team, but only have 2 close losses to NB and split with Eastern. Holly Hempill and Kathrine Bauer have both played way above their expectations to make Clay a contender this year. Next year Clays boys and girls will both have a shot at the SOC I titles.

Not hating her one little bit, and I'm sure she is a great girl and athlete, I just havent seen alot from her this year, but one girl can't do it all!! So by you saying that you would not trade cook for any other player in the SOC..does that mean you hate every other player in the SOC??? Same thing buddy!! With that said... I still would not trade one lady oak for cook or any other player in the SOC..
Umm? I never said I wouldn't trade Cook for any other player in the SOC. That was Swanker Pine. The way you stated that you wouldn't trade one Lady Oak for Cook (with an exclamation point after your statement) just makes her look bad when people read it. That's all I'm tryin' to say. I know one girl can't do it all; that's obvious. You can't, however, overlook the fact that she has put up HUGE numbers this season, and her career. Also, why would I HATE other players? Hate is a very strong word, but regardless of the matter, there aren't any players that I even DISLIKE from our area. I've supported Southeastern Ohio sports for many years now, and will continue to do so. Maybe I took your post the wrong way, but hey, that goes to show my support for the fine athletes we have in our area. Sorry for the mix-up.

If Kayla had the same support around her like Oak Hill does, multiple state banners would be on the wall. You can't deny that this year there is absolutely nobody on the floor with except a few girls who can shoot a 3 once or twice a game.
Re: Mid-season POY SOC I - SOC II
until anyone can say that it has to be proven. Caudill hasn't proven she is the best this year in my opinion. Yeah maybe leading scorer 3 or 4 games but if she was starting nobody would think she was that much better. She gets just as much playing time as all the starters or more. I agree with leaving minfords posts. The majority of the games have been led by Puckett and adkins all season long
caudill is hands down the best all around player on that team. she may not lead in scoring but dont forget that rebounds and steals make a difference. she doesnt look as good on paper but she is the better player: a better defender and rebounder than puckett, and just as good of a scorer, and for adkins, anyone can not play defense and cherry pick and shoot layups the whole game. adkins looks good in the SOC games on paper, but she doesnt show up when it matters. puckett was second in scoring in both state games, caudill was the leading scorer in the campionship with 16, and adkins had a combined 6 points in both games. that speaks for itself on who the better player is. not to mention caudill lead the team in rebounds. but as for the SOC games when the lady oaks win by 40+, adkins looks the best on paper, but as for being the best player, that goes to caudill and puckett.

I feel this whole thing is blown out of whack. the fact of the matter is that the people who vote for these honors do so hopefully with all things considered from stats to sportsmanship to even leadership in the classroom. POY should always be someone who is a leader off court as well as on court. Let them do their job and let the chips fall where they may. The measure of a true athlete is not all the awards that they receive but what mark they may leave on the game for others to follow.
Re: Mid-season POY SOC I - SOC II
The thing with Cook is that you don't see the teamwork all of the time that you see with the Lady Oaks...yes she has the stats to be POY... but I see her trying to do it all herself and driving to the basket through 3 defenders...

IMHO I think that individual awards should not even be given out. Basketball is a team sport so the whole team should be TOY=Team of the year. Does anyone see an I in team?
Re: Mid-season POY SOC I - SOC II

Cook is a passionate player and it is rare that you see someone like that in SE ohio. Give credit where credit is due. She is an awesome player. Just because we may not like her form of play doesn't mean we can't respect her and the game.

First of all I would like to say that any of these players would be deserving of the award or else their name would not mentioned on this thread. Now, what bothers me is i think someone is just trying to stir up trouble in Oak Hill by saying 'this player or that player is better'. but i am sure that no one on oak hills team really cares who does what. as long as they win! and if the parents and fans or so called fans that like to trash other players on your 'OWN TEAM!' lets just remember that if you talk about one LADY OAK you may as well be talking about ALL THE LADY OAKS! because these girls are a TEAM! and will pay absolutely no attention to idiots that get on here and talk badly about any of them.
This whole thread sounds like just another disgruntled Viking fan. probably someone that hasn't even been to a game or if they have been to a game are just trying to cause trouble with the lady oaks!

good luck lady oaks!!

If you are frustrated by the fact that Caudill does not start then take it up with Doug Hale and leave the other girls out of it. I can get you his phone number just PM me. its quoted right above you bad mouthing the other girls on the team. so you need to grow up and realize that the girls on this team and any other team for that matter, do get on here and look at what people say about them. i'm not saying anything bad about caudill because she is a good player and i know a lot of people wonder why she doesn't start. but she gets as many or more minutes than a lot of starters. her play speaks for itself. The way I look at it Oak Hill has 8 starters. all of the top 8 usually play about the same amount of minutes. outside a game or two when you get into foul trouble.. etc.. etc..
The reason I said a disgruntled viking fan was because posts like this look eerily similair to posts a few years ago about the TVC player of the year for the boys. The Vinton County people were arguing between 2 of their own players saying one was better than the other etc.. etc..

I usually read these posts and laugh at the unreasonable rational of most of them. But this was one occasion I felt compelled to weigh in.
I don't know what games you have been watching at Oak Hill, but the top 8 players do not have the same amount of playing time. The top 6 players may have, but I have been at some games when Caudill was left in when the reserves were playing, not so that she could score and pad her stats (which does happen a lot when the game is a blowout) but to direct the plays from Coach Hale.
It is obvious from the previous posts a very good question is why exactly doesn't the Caudill girl start? If you watched the state finals last year, the player that gave Regina (who was stacked with Division I college prospects) everything they could handle was Caudill, a freshman. Had she been in the game longer than she was, who knows what the outcome could have been. And then you have to ask why Caudill didn't make the SOCII All-League team (which is picked by the coach!) but made the district teams! What is going on there????
I don't think nuggett77 needs Hale's phone number. He doesn't act like the type of person who cares what other people think, not even the majority!

Lakin Caudill is #40 right? i remember her in JR High games dominating the paint. she's awesome
