Alexander at Minford
Re: Alexander at Minford
Who was the ref involved?? It is not a high school kid so why does it matter if anyone knows his name :122245

Re: Alexander at Minford
well i dont like refs as a rule, but i have never seen one mouth a fan that didnt mouth the ref first. so bottom line if you dont want a ref to mouth you, or punch you then dont mouth him. it is what it isPol Pot wrote:I think you are missing the part where the ref was mouthing the fan. Bottom line the ref is in no way justified in his actions.
Re: Alexander at Minford
From the sounds of it BOTH sides probably regret whatever did happen. For those of you who are offering that either one of them had it coming, or that many refs should have done this before, or that a fan should have done this before are WAY out of line.

Re: Alexander at Minford
That's the problem in today's world, everybody wants to say I have the right to verbally attack someone, the ref's shoud be used to it, that part of fan hollern at refs' has been around since sports began, good ref's let it go in one ear and out the other, and definitely don't get in altercations with the fans,(I wasn't there), but still as an official you have to have the ability to carry yourself with some class and professionalism. Not saying a fan doesn't need to get tossed every now and then, but to come to blows just crazy..the ref probably will lose their license and the fan could lose the ability to attend ball games..just crazy and not a show of class..
Re: Alexander at Minford
There is NO justification to go up and punch someone because you called them a name. Try that on the streets and see how that works for you. As an official your recourse is to remove the fan from the game. The basic fact of the matter that the official threw two fans out shows he is willing to do that, and if it needs done you do it. To walk up and punch someone is BUSH LEAGUE, if the fan was in the wrong you toss his arse not throw chickcrap punches. There should be charges filed.

Re: Alexander at Minford
concur with that pol pot, like I said too many people at these games, high school, college, biddy leauge, whatever want to threaten somebody, and a person is entitled to defend themselves, ref's have the ability to defend themseleves while on the court by ejecting the fan, he did it and it should have been left to that, a place and time for everything if you wanted to take it farther..like I said, he will probably will lose his officiating card, and if not then I would think the next game he ref's will be a bad one for him from the stands..

Re: Alexander at Minford
As Ive said before, if refs were evaluated and money taken away for bad calls, theyd do a better job. Which in turn would calm fans down. Now with that being said, threats are a completely different thing. Ill yell in a second if a bad call is made. The other night we played point and there were T's issued for a punch supposedly made by a SP player. I didnt see it so I dont know if it happened or not. But they let things get a little too physical and then emotions overflow and punches and elbows starts flying. And then when a CHILD gets hurt because of it, parents get irrate. I do myself because I feel like all our girls are my kids. If a ref didnt like what I was saying, then I may be talked into meeting them in the parking lot. But never infront of the kids. refs have 1 helluva tough job, but anyone who says some, not all, but some do pee poor jobs is lying or doesnt know the game. My 2 cents
Re: Alexander at Minford
^^^ Now that is a great post. The one about screaming if you see "a ref make a bad call," not so much. I have heard fans scream and yell when they have no clue about the rules or the situation. And to the person who posted, "try that on the street..." I ask what would happen if you tried screaming at and making fun of someone on the street? You would probably get blasted in the face if you did it to certain people. Many fans feel safe in the confines of a gym though, and think they should be able to say what ever they want. Looks like an official had enough of that, and retaliated. Is that justified? No. And as said earlier he will probably lose his officiating credentials if all of this is true. But you gotta love the fan that says, "yeah I scream at the refs when I see a bad call and it's my right to do so..." To that fan I say, click on D-5's link and sign up.

Re: Alexander at Minford
Any further word on this? Has the official lost his/her right to officiate? Any charges filed?
Re: Alexander at Minford
So what is the word on the official that took a punch in this game or after the game? Has he been suspended? Is he still officiating?
