Fort Frye played them pretty much even after that bad first quarter.

Nubians have a lot of speed, and very good ball handlers.

Depth hurt the Cadets as they only played seven girls and the two leading scorers played the entire game (Combs and Buchanan)
Scoring leaders for FF was Combs 20, and Buchanan 14.

Nubians were led by Black with 22, Hill had about 12.

Watch out Oaks, I think they will be a handfull.

Listened to the game on the way home from the Oaks-Dragons game. I was impressed with the way the Cadets never gave up and fought back to within 8 and I was yelling and rooting them on going down the road. I was looking for another game against the Cadets. You have a fine Team and I believe the guys on the radio said you just had 1 Senior who just finished her High School career tonight. Your girls will be back next year stronger and hungry to get back. You left it all on the floor and played a, to put it into kinder words, a loaded team. I couldn't help to notice that Africentic's fans had packed their seating area. :aaaaa46 :aaaaa46

I saw Africentric play in 4 or 5 of the games mentioned in previous years and the game they played tonight I think was better than any of them. I had them for just 13 possessions in the first quarter and 23 points with no FT attempts, with the aforementioned 10/12 shooting with 3 treys. On the first possession they drilled a trey, and then on the next two they had dueces that each hit the rim 2,3,4 times and went in. That's how you get 10/12 - a few breaks. But even so FF was only down 7-4 as they played a very good game also. The game was even after the 23-10 qtr, with the closest FF could get after 6 mins were gone in the game being 7 points with 9.5 mins left. I think heard on WJAW that FF shot 60% for the game and 71% in the 2nd half. 66 and 54 points in 56 possessions is pretty good playing. I think there are a lot games this time of year that have this many or more possessions that the scores are only in the 30's and 40's.

Looks like the 7 rebound and 7 turnover deficit was too much for a hot shooting Cadet team to overcome against a 54% FG shooting Africentric team. One of the best played games I've seen in a while, maybe since Marietta rolled against a very good South Point team in the district finals and the Convo last year, but probably not since in this game both teams played very well.

If you correct the shooting percentages for treys(add 0.5 makes for each trey made) then it is 60% for Af and 62.5% for FF, not that much different.

Fort Frye played a great game and did themselves proud, but Africentric just shot the lights out in the first quarter and it was too big of a mountain to climb. The Lady Nubians take care of the ball and made some good defensive adjustments at the end of the game to take away our layups. It's true that Fort Frye is not very deep, and when you think about some pretty good athletes not playing basketball and another pretty good player sitting on the bench with an injury it makes me think about how good Fort Frye could be.

It was a fun game and I wouldn't mind playing Africentric a time or two next year.

Lady Cadets should be very proud. I saw the result of the game last night when I was in Columbus and was sorry to see that the Lady Cadets lost, but I was happy to see that they kept it close and competitive. Went online today and read the local paper write-ups, and their Coach was happy with the effort. Congrats to FF and build on it, and hopefully next year, you can move on. You came close this year, and hopefully, will make us all proud next year moving even further.
