Miami Trace 7 10 12 14 9 --52
Marietta ... 16 5 8 14 0 -- 43

If you shoot less than 35% from the field this deep in the tourney you'd expect to lose, and even with Marietta's several easy "bust out" baskets early(and a couple early in the 3rd qtr) on steals and fast breaks they couldn't beat 35%. But Trace's even poorer 26% had Marietta in good shape, save for the offensive befuddlement the Trace defense caused them to out turnover them by a whopping 16. I also thought that Marietta allowed too many offensive rebounds to Trace, although Marietta narrowly won the rebound battle with Lamb's big game from that standpoint. That TO margin allowed Trace to have a 10+ advantage in both FT and FG attemps which won the game for them. And of course Trace had the "hammer", Jenna Cobb, at the end to assure that they wouldn't lose.
The best game of the night was played by McClain as they shot 60% from the field(6/14 from trey range) with only 11 turnovers, as they overcame a fast start by Sheridan(similar to Marietta's fast start that they also couldn't sustain). Sheridan's demise started when they missed a wide open lay-up when leading 12-5, and then they were trailing by the end of the first quarter and shortly after that the "horse was out of the barn".

McClain's game reminded me of the game I saw them play last year to knock out Unioto in the Convo. Hammond, Hyer, Saylor, Buck, and Cobb are names I recall from that game when they made 6 treys, shot 62% from the field and 17/19 from the line(until the time they took the starters out). They will be a tough out this year for Miami Trace. I guess it is yet to be decided when and where it will be! It'll be a shame if they aren't able to work it out to let them play at the Convo.

Re: D2 SE Tourney
Was 36-19 the final with Miami Trace over McClain?
I saw the score on WKKJ but it didn't say if that was the final.

WKKJ dosen't put final on their scores. They put the winning team in BOLD black. That's how you tell who won.But they have been known to make a mistake from time to time in getting the scores reversed.Miami trace is one fine team.Congrats!

M Trace 8 12 8 8 -- 36
McClain.. 4 5 7 3 -- 19
This was not as good a game as I expected. I guess I was used to stellar games by McClain. The only two I've ever seen them play were last week and in the Convo last year. As noted above they were really shot well in those, on deuces, treys, and FT. Yesterday early they went 0/4 early on open treys, basically casting the die as to the outcome. And then after that, the Trace defense wouldn't allow them to get hot. Cobb is very smooth. The defense didn't allow her that many good scoring opportunities, but when she got them, she efficiently, non-spectacularly usually puts them in the basket. And she handles the ball so well to keep the defense from getting many turnovers.
Re: D2 SE Tourney
Good luck to a fine Miami Trace team in your 7pm regional game Tuesday at Hamilton Twp. vs. Columbus Eastmoor.
Re: D2 SE Tourney
Congrats to Miami Trace on their fine win at the regional tonight(50-32) and good luck in the regional finals vs. Minerva. Is there a location and time set for this regional championship game yet?

Congrats to the Lady Panthers
Is anyone else amazed that they don't yet know where the Regional Finals will be held? I don't recall this ever happening before. It's odd that both teams played at separate locations for the semi finals. I'm sure that Miami Trace is happy where ever they get to play. Good Luck!!

I guess OHSAA figured they would save travel time or something on these games as West Holmes and Minerva played their semi in Dresden (Tri-Valley High School) and Miami Trace and Eastmoor played in Columbus (Hamilton Township). A middle ground for this game would be somewhere in and around Fairfield or Licking counties you would think (maybe Pickerington) ?
Re: D2 SE Tourney
Miami Trace plays Friday 7:30 at Pickerington Central. This is the loacal article on the game and it wasn't known when written:

Good luck to Trace to get the SE district represented in Columbus.

Congrats to Miami Trace, a 48-38 winner tonight over Minerva, to advance to the final four in Columbus next week.

Here is the local article on the Miami Trace big win to get to state. Trace wins in spite of Minerva shooting 7/17 from beyond the arc, by only allowing 4 offensive rebounds, shooting better overall, and out turnovering them by a bit. Interesting to note that both teams were less than 50% from the charity stripe, with Minerva shooting 5% less from the line as they did from beyond the arc.
Looks like they tapped the right player for D2 SE player of the year in Jenna Cobb. Congrats and good luck to Miam Trace in the Columbus. Alter will be tough.
