MD, wow, did not mean to ruffle your feathers! Truly sorry if I hit a nerve. I don't think I said that SV would rule the SOC, however, I do think that the Lady Vikes has shown improvement and will continue to do so, like they did tonight against Fairland. Good scrimmage for both schools. Fairland is still young and has some nice players as are we. Once again, sorry if I don't have as "thick as skin" as you have, but I hope all of the SOC schools have a great season, and that includes ND.

no prob -- i did'nt intend to slight your team. but i can see where it looked that way. i think maybe viiking grad was overblowing what the state of things are up at sv. good luck this season. low numbers stink. MD

ManitouDan wrote:Clay is the team to beat. when you talk about impact freshman they have a couple. Curly will be an all league type player right out of the gate . other guard from last years Jr high team shoots 3's better than most HS guards already. Center is also a solid player.

ND did'nt lose alot, very good group of soph's got a lot of varsity time as frosh. New coaching staff. Still alot of questions --who will score enough besides Arzen to beat people ? Depth could be a problem.

Not sure about Eastern but I bet it boils down to Clay and ND ---boils is a good word for it LOL MD

Now that we are about 1/2 way thru the season I thought I pull this thread back up to see how everyone's crystal ball was functioning. After seeing Clay last night and watching our (ND) team mine was pretty clear. S Curly is the best PG in the league as a freshman. best ballhandler by far. I was correct about getting scoring from someone other than Arnzen, so far it's been a huge struggle, team only averaging around 40 a game , too many possesions where no shot is taken (To's) . I'd say we average over 20 a game. Got to improve greatly in that to get towards the top of the standings.
Looks like I was wrong about Eastern, league title will come down to Eastern and Clay.

Lastly could anyone who has been around far longer than me comment on the overall talent level in the league this year. Is this year a typical year in terms of good players and solid teams ? I only started watching some HS girls ball last year. MD

I agree I stated Curley would be an impact Freshmen, look around the league, both of SOC's, impact freshmen (on varsity) all play AAU..it makes a big difference in a program whether kids are playing in the offseason..Curley is a strong guard, skill wise and physically..tremendous endurance..by the time post season play comes along, her experience coupled with the older players, Clay will be a tough team to face.

Look at West, Minford has 3 freshmen that will make an impact during the tourny...if you have the talent no matter what grade, you have to play your best players, get them ready for the tournament..

Amen to that FalconBurger. Not only does it get them ready for tourney play this year it paves the way for success in the years to come.
