... Logan Varsity girls according to the LDN participated in the Eastern Ohio Team camp for 3 days posting a 30-4 record ... Jessica Harris was selected to play in an All Star event in Balitmore, Md. July 21-24 - this would be her 2nd straight year attending the ALL Star event ... congratulations to the Lady Chieftains and Jessica Harris ...

... a reliable source has informed me that the girls JV Coach for the upcoming year will be neither Coach Burns or Coach Kennard ... Middle School teacher/freshman football coach, Varsity Girls softball coach Jim Huntsberger will be the Girls JV basketball coach ... the rumor was out there that Coach Huntsberger was interested in getting into the basketball program - he is now one pass from the varsity position ... congratulations goes to Coach Huntsberger ...

... best of luck to all of the girls coaches and girls teams at all levels next season ...

If this is indeed true Coach Huntsberger will do an excellent job. He has coached JV girls before and did a very fine job. Pfloyd, you must have all the inside sources! :o)

Mr. Floyd, as Colonel Klink used to say, " hmmmmmmmm, velly, velly interesting." Politically speaking, I guess "it's just another brick in the wall."

... flatulence that brick in the wall is more than likely one of the "signature" bricks for the new football stadium I'm sure LOL ... buy one and get a free Chieftain Bobble Head !!! - of course that comes with a $10.00 case  ...

... I'm sitting here on the porch at The Fletcher Memorial Home ... Wish You Were Here Flatulence , Hey You Flatulence, why don't get on your Bike, take some Time away from that running camp - I know it's a Great Gig in the Sky for you running guys and gals BUT I had High Hopes you could come on down, listen to some Jugband Blues maybe pitch in some Money for a little kool aid... listen to me - I Keep Talking til the Sheep come home ... I am Comfortably Numb thinking about the Purple sports seasons to come - LHS vs ??? .... Us and Them ... heck Flatulence One of These Days I might even get out to Big Chief Hill to see those harriers of yours Learning to Fly up that hill of yours on Chieftain Drive ... just think once you and I retire ( ok once I retire) I'll be able to think about The Happiest Days of Our Lives on the Hilltop ... oh the Sorrow, the Echoes of the past .... anyway I'm sort of Marooned here on Mulberry sitting by the computer trying to buy that best seller on Amazon.com " When the Tigers Broke Free" ... doesn't look like you are going to make it to the porch here at The Fletcher Memorial Home so I'm going to just Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun while pondering whether we'll get to See Emily Play for the lady Chiefs this winter ... maybe I'll just fill out an order form for Another Brick in the Wall so I can get it to Ron Janey (or is it Arnold Payne) on time - who gets the order form ? ...

Pimk Floyd, allow me to travel the circuitous route of The Windy City. "You're The Inspiration' that triggered the line from Just Another Brick In The Wall." Besides, "What Kind Of A Man Would I Be" were I to "Look Away." It would be "Hard To Say I,m Sorry" were I not to talk ideology. Others may be able to "Look Away", but [It's] " A Hard Habit To Break." It seems to me that the men wanted to be in control and then "Along Comes A Woman" to invade their private sanctity. Oh well, We Can't Last Forever."
See, I can do it as well!

Wow, I didn't see that one coming. I oftened wondered why Huntsy wasn't coaching b-ball as well as the other sports he allready coaches. He will do a nice job as far as "coaching" the kids, but how much b-ball experience does he have? did he coach the girl's JV before? just curious, cause I really don't know.

I know the Hughes' very well and they have kept me updated on Emilie's knee. They are going to work her through therapy very hard to try and get her back for the holiday classic

... lhsladychief ... that's good news ... with Emilie's history with knee issues - thought her playing days might be over ... again those of us in the Purple Nation wish her a fast and full recovery so she can be a contributing factor to the Lady Chiefs after Christmas ...

... Coach Huntsberger will do a good job for the girls program , KYR says he has coached JV girls basketball previously ...

... Flatulence interesting how politics works especially in this case ... have been informed of some interesting 'tidbits" of information concerning the bidding/hiring process for this position ... in your last post you hit the nail on the head "Along Comes a Woman" ... it's history now - from Atom Heart Mother - just so much Funky Dung in the political arena ...

The word on the street is Coach Huntberger will be hired to be the JV coach. Mr Huntsberger has coached at the JV level before and would do an excellent job! The AD does not have to hire anyone from the school district if he feels the applicants are not qualified for that position. Coach Rice has decided to go on to become an administrator in his next career. Coach Burns is not ready to make the jump to JV. The girls had an excellent summer but need to get into the weight room to prepare for the upcoming season.

The original posting "Are the Lady Chiefs gonna make some noise next season? The dedication and enthusiam for the game is there! Many of the prospective players freshman through seniors participated in the summer league, shootouts and camps. In addition, 15 girls played AAU ball this summer which adds another whole season on to their experience record.

Last year, with a couple of close games, was a good year and this year should be comparable or even better. Big on the "to do list" is getting Harris help inside on the boards. Holloway and Hartman were big here last year. Thompson will have to step up when Walsh needs to give Harris some rest breaks.

With Cassady gone and being the four year point guard starter, running the plays and first back defense will be important part of this year's team success. Bosch and Bohlen are very solid and I expect to see awesome things from them their final year. Upcoming Juniors, Klinger, Hoffmans and Reynolds will fit nicely into the mix. Hopefully Hughes can recover quickly and return. Get well soon Emily! Sophomore Klingenberg also got some playing time this summer on the varsity which will be helpful. Cassady's sister Loryn, a freshman, will see some playing time also.

I think the Logan fans will be pleased with the incoming talent. This year may be the year! Go Lady Chiefs!

Reynolds played post this past summer. Cassady could be point and Bailey Topf could see some varsity time.

Pfloyd, it is interesting how you say that politics are involved. I think you are wrong here. Nagol is 100% correct. Coach Huntsberger has coached before and will do an excellent job.

Coach Burns is in NO WAY ready to coach JV basketball. I have seen her coach before and she definitely needs to stay right where she is.

It should be a very exciting year coming up for the Lady Chiefs. Coach Walsh will have something for the first time since he has coached, and that is depth. There will definitely be some dog fights in practice for playing time which will in turn make all of the players better.

Here's a question for everyone, what division are the Lady Chiefs going to be in this upcoming year? If they go DII they have a shot at going pretty far. That is a while down the road, but definitely add to the excitement for the upcoming season.

kyr: Coach Burns is probably not ready. Seems to be a lack of communication in the girls coaching staff. Not much interaction as I have noticed. If Huntsberger indeed has the job and Burns bid on same it would not be gender biased or political. Would be nice to get by this issue.

KYR ... in no way am I saying that Coach Huntsberger will not do a good job - he WILL ... he knows how to get the most out of his athletes ... I have no problem with Coach Huntsberger at all ... I have never seen Coach Burns court side - so I defer to your knowledge of her coaching abilities ... I do know some of the "issues" that went into this situation that made it worthwhile for me to graze here on the girls forum to see how it all played out ...

... Coach Walsh should definitely have an outstanding year with the cast of returnees he has coming back ... imo I see a "group" of players that will take the pressure off of having to "showcase" any "one" player ... should be a fun year to watch the Lady Chiefs in action - I may have to take in a few more games than usual this season on the ladies side ...
