Division II sectional - Meigs
Re: Division II sectional - Meigs
Fairfield U should be the 2 seed....I mean this with zero disrespect to Athens and their great season and definitely do not say it as a falcon supporter....Fairfield U blew out Circleville (15 + pts) twice while Athens suffered one of it's two losses to Circleville....seems like a fair way to look at it

Cannot go comparing scores, injuries, health, poor nights, fun road games. Tons of factors over the course of a season. If Dawson is not hurt, FU is maybe a 4 seed again, and no better than a 3. FU lost to LE, who lost to ZT, who got hammered by Nelsonville. We can play compare that score with almost any team.
LE 60 FU 56
ZT 47 LE 39
Nelsonville 59 ZT 37
Athens 57 Nelsonville 32
It's all about matchups.
Another example;
LE 60 FU 56
Circleville 40 LE 39
FU 61 Circleville 39
Circleville 51 Athens 50
Does that mean that Circleville is greater than LE? Who's greater than FU?
FU 58 Logan 43 (Logan -starters)
Athens 51 Logan 32

Re: Division II sectional - Meigs
my seeding prediction:
1. Jackson
2. Athens
3. Fairfield Union - no "friends" in the room to get the vote for #2
4. Warren
5. Marietta - was gonna put them 6th until they won tonight. Warren coach may vote them #6 so they won't have to meet a 3rd time.
6. Vinton county
7. Sheridan
8. South Point
9. Gallia
10. New Lexington

They will use any excuse they can to drop Fairfield Union down. Last year it was the loss to Logan it did not matter that one starter was out and 2 others had just been cleared from acl surgery. This year Athens loses to Circleville but that game does not matter. It is worse that Fairfield Union lost to Logan Elm even though Logan Elm is 9-3 in the league and Circleville is 3-9 in same league but FU gets the 3 because of loss to Logan Elm
Re: Division II sectional - Meigs
You are missing the point, you still have to win. What did FU get dropped down to last year? You really think they should have been seeded over a 4 loss Marietta, or a 5 loss Warren, who both went to the Regional? Or Jackson who was 18-2 as well? Because there is no difference between a 4 or a 5, except the color of your jersey.

Re: Division II sectional - Meigs
Falcon Fan, you cited Maxpreps rankings above, do you realize that FU has the weakest strength of schedulthor the Meigs Sectional teams?
Marietta 14.5
Warren 13.8
South Point 11.3
New Lex 10.6
Sheridan 10
Gallia 8.6
Jackson 5.8
Vinton 4.8
Athens 4.6
FU 3.3
In fact, FU has one of the weakest schedules in the MSL, as rated by a site you yourself used.

Agree with you that the SE district drops the ball on fairness come tourney time.

Re: Division II sectional - Meigs
How many teams has FU played in the SE District? Who in the SE District has seen them play? How can you complain about people not knowing your product when you do not expose your product to the clientele? Instead of heading to the inner city, travel to Jackson. Hard to ask people to evaluate you when you have no exposure.

Re: Division II sectional - Meigs
I actually understand last years seeding I just don't understand getting ripped for using last years reason for this year lol. Fact is Athens and Fairfield Union have 2 common opponents Fairfield Union is 3-0 against those opponents and Athens is 1-1. You can twist any other scores any way you want but you can't change that fact. I have great respect for Athens and thought it was a great game between the 2 teams last year. Also I don't think there is a lot of difference between being the. 2 or the 3 this year district is very deep and you better show up ready to play

Re: Division II sectional - Meigs
Pol Pot I actually agree with you on the scheduling but unfortunately I have no control over that but I have been saying the same thing for years. On a different point does anyone have any idea why the basketball sections are split different than volleyball and softball. With volleyball and softball we are split with Logan Elm, Circleville, Sheridan, New Lex and others which seems to make more sense
Re: Division II sectional - Meigs
That's a good question, they do the same thing on the boys side. I know on the girls side Jackson has bounced from Alex to Chillicothe and back in the last few years. I think it is a two year rotation. In Volleyball I believe they even call them North/South and divide them that way.

I have no idea how its going to play out - but it was 'good reading' everyones point of view ... I'm anxious to see how it all pans out, not only in this sectional, but the others as wel.

Re: Division II sectional - Meigs
Should be some great games down at Meigs that's for sure. At least 7 quality teams if not more. You have to like Jackson's chances to win one of the sectionals but the other 3 will be up for grabs. It will be interesting to see how the match ups shake out.
Re: Division II sectional - Meigs
how much politicing do you think is going on in the room at this draw with so many teams so close? they may be in there awhile lol
