SEOAL Scores and Standings
Re: SEOAL Scores and Standings
Route 35 was completely fine. Zane Trace, Huntington, Southeastern, Unioto, Adena and Chillicothe boys all played.
Someone important not want to miss the Bengals game?

Understand GAHS beat Warren Local. Haven't heard the reserve score and not sure of the varsity score.

This is a good article detailing the game. Ironton nearly came back to "steal" the game, and in fact did take the lead. But the first possession after falling behind, Grosel was fouled, making both to take the lead back. Then she was fouled the next two possessions also and with the double bonus had four shots and she made the first three, for five in a row to put Marietta up by four. Her foul shot pairs were at 2:26, 1:38, and 0:45, and then after the Ironton trey attempt to take the lead back and the Ross' rebound and foul against her at half court at 0:09, Ross made the 2nd of her free throws to make it the final 3 point lead.
Marietta allowed Ironton to come back in the game from 5:35 to 2:33 left on their 17-2 run by blowing a couple of close bunnies early in that period, and then they failed to adjust their defense from their normal pressure to create turnovers to a body position, non-fouling style that uses up time for the opponent to beat it and make field goals. Allowing Ironton to make all those points with the clock stopped was a key factor.
Free throw shooting was just about dead even, and Marietta's advantage in turnovers allowed them to have many more FG attempts to make the same number of FG as Ironton, and the fact that they had three more treys was equivalent to the final margin.
I figured Ironton would win the rebound battle by more than the few they did, and they were doing well boxing out on the defensive end. But Paige Lamb worked, and worked and got a rebound put-back for Marietta's first points which ignited their 11-0 run to get a good bit of a working margin early. I think Paige made at least 3 key rebound put-backs for at least 6 of her 8 points.
LeAnne Ross picked up her 2nd fould near the end of the game and had to sit out. During that time, Marietta had a tougher time scoring, and when Ironton tied it at 18, the coach put her back in, and the lead quickly jumped to 24-18, and he wisely took her back out.
There were 14 total fouls in the first half(7-7), and 27 in the 2nd half. I think I heard a ref respond in the 3rd quarter to a player question about why that was a foul, and he said that that's the way both coaches wanted them called so that is what they were going to do.
Emily Lilly came in and scored all of her 9 points in the 2nd half, 7 in the 4th quarter which were key in the Ironton comeback. She was 1/1 from the line and had four put-back and other close in tough shots.

Re: SEOAL Scores and Standings
No I'm talking about the Chillicothe girls this coming Saturday (Jan. 16) in the Pickerington Shootout. They are scheduled to play in that event.
The boys played at Pickerington Central last night (1-9) and lost.

Ironton at Marietta????
I hear #22 didn't start that game and in fact she or #21 got hardly any playing time at all that game. #10 was playing under the basket most of the game. No wonder Ironton didn't have many rebounds. How tall is she anyways. This also gave Marietta quite a few baskets if you get my drift. We won't mention the turnovers because Taylor and Morris contributed their fair share. The only two times that Ironton was tied or within two to three points was when these two players (22 & 21)were in, then they would be benched and Marietta would quickly pull away. We watched Lily walk off the bench the game before and overheard the coaches talking in the hallway that she'd quit because she was mad. Then when Ironton played Marietta, her and her sister were playing. Ironton has lost some key games that could have been won in their favor (Oak Hill, Marietta). They could have even gave us a better game (South Point). I see the key players not playing or bringing the points. Could it be that something else is on the mind of the players and missing with their game. These players should pull together if there is a team issue and talk to the coach. 22 has been in the paper as lead scorer several times, now she's lucky to bring 7 to 9 to the table. Something is throwing these girls off, lineups, statistics all in question or should be. You would think a school would want a winning record and every time this team is winning or on a nice run in a game the coach misses with the lineup. Shouldn't leave the lineup in that's got you on the run until you have a nice lead then pull your younger girls off the bench if you want to give them playing time. I've never seen this done anywhere and it shows with Ironton's record it's not working for your team. Good luck Tigers but I'm sorry I don't see things improving for you. As other schools fans we just don't get the logic. STATS?????

For someone who only "heard" about the game, you seem to have alot of "facts." Which one is it? Did you see this game? Or did you "hear" about it? As a "fan of other schools", you seem to have alot of passion for Irontons program. Ironton plays at home tomorrow night at the Sports Center vs. Portsmouth. Go Fighting Tigers!

A typical Marietta-Warren game, spirited with poor shooting and lots of turnovers. Game was officiated well and there were 44 fouls called in the game, with 27 on Marietta, with Warren shooting the double bonus the whole 2nd quarter. After the game Maegan Grosel had at Waterford, and the slow start the Tigers had there, Marietta was looking for a quick start, and started her. She proved to be the lone exception to the poor FG shooting, and made more points on field goals(18) than the whole Warren team, including 2/3 of her team's points in both the 1st and 3rd quarters. LeAnne Ross proved to be an exception to the ~50% free throw shooting for the rest of both teams as she hit her first 8 in a row, including her 1000th career point on her first point of the night, a swished free throw. Allie Summers and Paige Lamb also played well for the Tigers.
Warren's only lead was at 3-2, and then the Marietta margin swelled to 14 at half. Warren cut the lead down to six when they scored the first basket of the 4th quarter after a good 3rd quarter in which they cut 7 points off the Tigers lead. But the 32-26 deficit was as close as the Warriors could get.
