Kendall Sury scored her 1000 point in the first few minutes of the game. They rotated a lot of people in for different looks. It looked like Close was trying to get some ideas for a tournament play and some lineups. Their defense was tighter and more aggressive. I like his intensity on their defensive play when they play in these types of games. He definitely focuses on that going into these next couple of weeks.
The girls were sandwiched in between two boys games for a triple header, which was different. There were a lot of people in the stands and coming to Waterford is always a good experience.m. I heard someone say that they were doing the triple header again next week with eastern. Seems like a good idea to put Fans in the stands.

I will say that Waterford starting five is definitely looking better each game. The Pottmeyer girl played some pretty good defense. Smithberger, Sury, Wagner all were great supporting roles as well as playmakers. Malec hit some dagger 3s and is looking more confident shooting. They are definitely playing good basketball right now. Could clean up some shots and passes, but that will come with time, looking forward to hearing how game goes on Monday at FortFrye.

Will that Eastern game be on Thursday again or Friday?

I think Friday. Can’t confirm. I just overheard someone say they had another triple header this coming week. I’m sure Waterford will post something.

Thank you. I wouldn't mind seeing them again but Friday doesn't work. I would love to see the Waterford-Fort Frye game on Monday but I have to work that night too.

Draws for the Hocking went about as planned setting up some potential rematches.
Division 6
Fed Hock got the one seed but Eastern dropped to the 4 seed so I would not sleep on them. If they get by them they will most likely get a rematch with Harvest Prep from the central in a game they played earlier this year.
Belpre got the 2 seed and should be okay into the regional where they should get a rematch with Fort Frye out of the East who they played at Warren near Christmas. Belpre has been struggling a bit lately but they have some games to get right before that rematch.
Division 7
Waterford should not be tested until the Regional final but that will be a doozie with Hiland (most likely) in a rematch of last year's Overtime game to get to the state tournament. Hiland will have some issues with Strasburg in the district but probably not in the regional semi and I think the revenge factor would maybe make them the favorite vs the cats this year.
Trimble most likely gets a rematch with Notre Dame in the 4-5 game which will be nice as well.
I like Southern to win their first game but beating South Gallia will be a tall task.
Good luck to all Hocking teams.

SG will wipe the floor with Southern. That’s one reason why SG got ran outta the Hocking is because they could see how good their teams were going to be. Go Rebels.

You’re just lucky Howie isn’t helping the girls team like he is the boys. Howie never lost to those hosers in South Galley.

Belpre better not overlook Whiteoak. Good guards and good shooters.

I would agree with that. Whitoak might have trouble with the Belpre post play but I agree they can cause some trouble. Same with Eastern. They may not be the juggernaut they were a few years ago but they are still very solid and well coached. Rooting for the TVC but can see both teams getting beat out as well.

Poorly edited the first time. These are my thoughts not Ed's. My apologies to Mr. Ott.

Federal Hocking and Waterford move on after pedestrian wins last night while Trimble fell to Notre Dame. Belpre looks to keep the hopes alive for three Hocking teams making it to the regionals as they play tonight. By seed this should be a win for Belpre but they shouldn't overlook the Hornets. Their loss column includes five losses to Portsmouth (2), Fairland (2) and Green. Rooting for the TVC but I think DB will make this a game. Best of luck to both squads.
