Portsmouth Lady Trojans 2024-25
Re: Portsmouth Lady Trojans 2024-25
I dont see Portsmouth having any trouble winning it all but ya never know. The deeper you go into tourney play , one bad game , its over.
Re: Portsmouth Lady Trojans 2024-25
Ok got to put my 2 cent in this!!! Ok when a college wins against a great team or ranked high or they win a championship they storm the court or football field and the other team understands and goes to their locker room. It’s called youth, I guess little immature ? They’re kids 15-18. But it’s excitement at the time on the buzzer goes off and the game is over. I bet the Fairland ladies didn’t think anything about it until the grownups got involved or a keyboard hero hiding behind a fake ass name!!! Anyways these are young ladies and they knew they just beat a great Fairland team their years of dominance proves that. Good luck to both teams from here on out to final 4.biggdowgg wrote: Mon Feb 03, 2025 10:52 pmHamPorter wrote: Mon Feb 03, 2025 10:30 pm3 of them shook hands. The rest celebrated. It’s okay to admit that and it’s okay to celebrate too. Not a big deal, anyone who said it is has never played a sport. Anyone who just lies consistently about things has issues too. There was a livestream that can prove the number of hand shakers in line, just like there are internet websites that prove rankings. It’s okay.biggdowgg wrote: Mon Feb 03, 2025 9:57 pm
I sit right beside the Fairland fans "these was some really nice woman " and we was all right behind the scorers table and Trojan bench , I personally seen the girls shaking hands all along with the coaches the Fairland girls was all hugging and congratulating the Trojan girls as did the Fairland head coach with the portsmouth coaches now maybe a girl or2 did not make it back to shake hands. but for the most part YES THE TROJANS DID LINE. IP TO SHAKE HANDS,!! Although I did see our tiny sophomore point guard: Keke woods was so exited when the buzzer sound she took off running inches backcourt and did a couple back flips ,I will apologize for her for beeing o er excited after winning an UNDEFEATED REGULAR AND LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP!!
It's post like this that takes away from your real fans . there has been a couple all over portsmouth thread trying to downgrade our lady's schedule!!
Im.done defending, our lady's did the talking on the floor for themselves!! Still # 1 division 5 in the state of OHIO steal UNDEFEATED.!!!
CONGRATULATIONS LADY TROJANS!!! KEEP SHUTTING UP THE HATERS AS YOU HAVE BEEN DOING ALL YEAR ,ONE GAME AT A TIME!! YOU ARE ALL.AWSOME AND WONDERFUL YOUNG LADYS!!!
Nobody is hating, but don’t lie about things that are easily proven because of one or two troll accounts.
I.just watched the ending so I will retract and apologize I knew I seen some girls and the coaches shaking hand but it was definitely not as many as I had thought I guess like the girls I. Was caught up with te mob that stormed onto the floor.
My apologies, I should have looked at some videos before I commented, but I just thought it was more negativity thrown at our girls.
Thank you

Nothing wrong with a close loss late in the season, especially on the road against one of the best programs in the state in Mount Notre Dame
The Trojans will be better for Thursday’s game and I fully expect to easily reach the final 4, which is where the difficult schedule should benefit them the most. Excited to see how they adjust from here.

That team yesterday was really good. Trojans had a lot of trouble with their defense. They couldn’t get inside at all. But that will help them in the tournament. I don’t think the woods girls scored a point and she is one of the best kids on the team. Nothing wrong with a close loss to a division 1 school. They had a lot of depth as well. We had 4 girls on the bench they had like 10.

Proud of our Lady Trojans!! They gave Mt.Notre Dame all they could handle. Down 10 points going into the 4th quarter, PHS battled back to take the lead, but in the end MND came away with a 54-47 win. What PHS showed against a very good D1 team was that they fought back when down, and that they never quit. The non-conference schedule that Coaches Amy and Mike Hughes put together has to be one of the toughest in the state for a D5 school. George Rogers Clark, Kettering Fairmont, Lakota West, Shaker Heights Laurel, Mt.Notre Dame, and Ashland KY twice. No fewer than 4 of those schools are D1. The hardwood battles that the Lady Trojans have been through will prove invaluable come tournament time. They have shown all season that they are worthy of being a state championship team.
GO LADY TROJANS!! KEEP CLIMBING THE MOUNTAIN, AND DON'T STOP UNTIL YOU GET TO THE TOP!!

That’s the same thing that got Fairland when they played Notre Dame. They played 9 girls consistently and Fairland had a kid out and didn’t have enough depth and wore out. That’s why they are D1 though I guess lol good game by PortsmouthBeergogglebluez wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 9:23 am That team yesterday was really good. Trojans had a lot of trouble with their defense. Re: Portsmouth Lady Trojans 2024-25
The Lady Trojans traveled across the river this past Saturday and defeated the Ashland Lady Kittens 52-39. Ashland jumped to an 11-2 lead, but PHS battled back to take a 19-18 lead at the half. In the 2nd half, the Lady Trojan's stifling defense took control of the game, and the offense started to find the basket more often. With the win, Portsmouth finished the regular season with a 21-1 record, the most regular season wins in Lady Trojan history, surpassing the 1984 team which went 20-0. They also have the opportunity to match the 1988 Trojan boys D2 state championship team which went 27-1, the most wins in school history.
Portsmouth received a first round bye. They've climbed 21 steps, only 6 more to go to reach the summit of the mountain!!

CONGRATULATIONS to our Lady Trojans for being named #1 in the final poll D5 by the Stateline Sports Network. Also Max Preps rated the Lady Trojans #11 overall in all divisions and the highest ranked D5 school. The poll title is only the 2nd in PHS history, with the 1st being by the 1978-79 boys team, which finished with an 18-0 record and were awarded AP poll champions.

Re: Portsmouth Lady Trojans 2024-25
After researching some information about the 1984 and 1985 Lady Trojans district championship teams, I found out that Marvetta Froe scored 34 points vs. Northwest in the 1985 district championship vs. Northwest. Her 34 point game makes her the 1st Lady Trojan to be inducted into the 30 point club which can be found on www.trojanhoops.org. There are other 30 point games by the Lady Trojans over the course of history, and I'm hoping to find out some more games to add to the list which now has 85 games of 30 points or more by Trojans or Lady Trojans.

Re: Portsmouth Lady Trojans 2024-25
The Lady Trojans opened up tournament play Monday with a 62-42 win over the Piketon Lady Redstreaks. The #1 D5 Poll Champion PHS started the game up 7-2, and opened up a 14 point lead in the 2nd quarter, but Piketon stayed competitive with some 3 ball shooting. Leading the charge for the Lady Trojans were 2 sophomores, Hayven Carter and KeKe Woods. Carter led PHS with 19 points, while Woods chipped in 16. Carter was also dominant on the glass as well. The Lady Trojans expanded their lead to as much as 25 points in the 2nd half, and their defense kept Piketon out of striking range.
Portsmouth is now 22-1 on the season, and will play Alexander for the district championship on Saturday, tip at 12:00 PM. One more win will give the Lady Trojans a tie for the best record in PHS girls basketball history, which is 23 set by the 1984 Lady Trojans who finished 23-1 and won the school's first district title ever. PHS will be going for a 2nd consecutive district championship. Last season's Lady Trojans defeated Minford for the district crown.

Re: Portsmouth Lady Trojans 2024-25
JR Sienna Allen's list of D1 offers continues to grow, as she is now up to 20. She could end up the all time leading scorer in PHS basketball history, boys or girls. The all time leading scorer currently is Kyre Allison, who amassed 1,688 points in his career, which spanned 2013-2016. Sienna has already passed the 1,000 point mark, joining teammate SR Daysha Reid. Reid has already signed to play basketball at Georgetown KY.
The all time leading girls scorer in PHS history is Peighton Williams, who scored 1,589 points.

Co-Coach's , by the way they 100 percent , are the best Coach's in Division 5 and to be honest as good as any Coachs regardless of Division. So does it matter to you that much that you post a snide comment. All you need to know is there No 1 in Division 5 and they're the top notch! How's that , I hope the next time you wonder , just pick 1! Go Lady Trojans!
Re: Portsmouth Lady Trojans 2024-25
Congratulations to the lady trojans these girls are so fun to watch there is not a selfish bone in any of them. You can watch them and see they all know what the others are going to do before they do it.
The "coaches" , all do a great job with these girls .
I exited fir this tournament run the girls just need to stay focused because tournament time is a dangerous time especially when you are the 1 ranked team because every game you play the underdog wants to knock you out..

Portsmouth were as advertised! I was extremely proud how physical Piketon played against them! I felt like that Piketon team doesn’t lose 8 games during the year if they played with that style of play! I hope the Trojans can win it all and rep southern Ohio!!!

Portsmouth has a tremendous set-up on the bench with Amy and Mike. Amy is definitely the HC, but why not let a proven winner -Mike-have significant input during the game and especially during time outs. It’s a win-win for Portsmouth and the most importantly the players.Jumper45 wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 11:34 amWho is the head coach. Amy or Mike.
