Lady Pointers breeze past Musketeers

SOUTH POINT — The South Point Lady Pointers didn’t waste any time.

The Lady Pointers jumped out to a 31-0 lead in the first quarter and breezed past the Greenup County (Ky.) Lady Musketeers 81-38 Saturday.

“We got on them early and played really well,” said Lady Pointers coach Dave Adams.

“We’re playing good defense and sharing the ball. We’re playing good team ball and with our youth we should just keep getting better.”

Kayla Fletcher scored 23 points and Ericka Leighty 22 to lead South Point (2-2). Tinesha Taylor added 14 points and T’Ann Mayo handed out 11 assists.

Fletcher, Leighty, and Taylor scored 7 points each and Jalynn Bradburn 6 in the first quarter as South Point settled the outcome early.

Fletcher scored 12 more points in the second quarter to extend the lead to 52-10 at the half.

South Point hosts Fairland Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
