Ouch! I had hoped the games were competitive in hopes that the Eagles might "hang" with them this year.

The Lady Tigers will play at South Webster on November 24th in a "scrimmage" to raise money for a local charity. The varsity boys from both schools will also play. I will post more info when I get it.

what surprised me at the NB Clay game was that Clay was winning at half time, then they battled through the 3rd quarter, and somehow NB weaseled their way to the lead...

SOUTH POINT, OH-The 2008-2009 season officially tipped off on Saturday, December 6th for the South Point Lady Pointers as they hosted the New Boston Lady Tigers. Prior to the Varsity game, the Lady Pointers won the JV game 39-23. Freshman Erin Dillow was the leading scorer for South Point with 17 points.

The game tipped with the Lady Pointers going on a 7-0 run to start the game. New Boston then came back and scored six straight points to cut the Pointers lead down to one. The game stayed tight with South Point pulling away a little at the end of the quarter to lead by six. The second quarter also stayed neck and neck as the first half ended with a 29-24 South Point lead. Sophomore Ashley Goodall was the Lady Pointers leading scorer in the first half with ten points.

New Boston came out strong to begin the second half as they hit two three¢s to take a 30-29 lead. The game then started to go back and forth as Jalynn Bradburn hit a bucket plus a foul shot to give the lead back to the Lady Pointers. New Boston went back down the court and hit a three to take the lead again. South Point came back to regain the lead but another three by New Boston tied the game up with 3:30 left in the third quarter. The Lady Pointers ended the quarter strong though and went into the fourth quarter with a 43-38 lead.

With a tight game in the final quarter, it was crucial for the Lady Pointers to step up and maintain the lead in the final eight minutes. The Lady Pointers did just that as they scored twenty points in the fourth quarter with ten of those coming from Kayla Fletcher. With good defense and making crucial free throws late in the game, the Lady Pointers held on to win 63-56 to start the season 1-0! Kayla Fletcher was the leading scorer for South Point with 18 points while fellow sophomore teammates Ashley Goodall and Jalynn Bradburn scored 12 points each.

Congrats to the Lady Pointers!

The Tigers have three (3) games next week. On Monday the 8th, they host the Green Bobcats, travel up to Beaver on Thursday to meet the Eastern Eagles and close out the week on Saturday at West Union. New Boston slips to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

Good Luck Tigers!

The Pointers have Russell, Ky. at home Tuesday, River Valley at home on Thursday and travel over to Boyd County Saturday.
