Marietta edges Gallia Blue Angels, 40-36

Visiting Marietta edged Gallipolis Gallia Academy, 40-36, in a Southeastern Ohio League contest in the GAHS gym Friday evening.
Gallipolis led 8-6 after one period. MHS forged ahead 19-13 after two quarters and led 34-25 after three periods.
Gallipolis cut the deficit to 38-35 in the final two minutes, but was unable to connect at the foul line or take advantage of several Tiger lady turnovers.
Gallipolis sank 13 of 27 free throw attempts for 48.1 percent. MHS was eight of 13 at the line for 61.5 percent.
Allie Troester led the Gallipolis attack with 15 points. Lee Ann Ross had 14 for the Lady Tigers.
The victory left Marietta 3-2 overall and 1-1 in league play. GAHS dropped to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in conference action. Next Gallipolis game is Dec. 15, at home against non-league Fairland.
