Aggie plays for the Junior Varsity team as a point guard. The Varsity played a fantastic game! They trailed 27-18 at the end of one, 34-33 at the half, 48-43 at the end of three and defeated Vinton County on a last second goal by Jamie Sindelar. The Lady Bulldogs used a diamond and one zone to stymie Tori Dixon who still scored 20 points, but 13 of those came in the first half. Cindy Willis scored 17 points for Athens, followed by 14 by her twin sister, Caty. Whitney Dickens scored 11, Adianna Lein had 9, Sindelar 7, Raven Cline 6, and Eliza Christensen 3. Allison Graves had 12, Chrissie Rice 11Chelsey Taborn 10and Brittany Stewart and Adrienne Saylor had 6 points.
The Junior Varsity also defeated Vinton County 41-29. Elena Lein had 20 points for Athens and Ellie Manoogian O'Dell had 8. Alyssa Fields had 10 for Vinton.
The game can be seen on Nelsonville TV Cable.
Congratulations to the Lady Bulldogs of Coach Wayne Horsley!!

Congratulations to Athens on the big road win, and their first win on the season and as a member of the TVC against the defending division champion.
I have to admit this outcome stuns me. Vinton County has now lost four in a row.

I coached Aggie in pee wee, glad to see she's doing well, sure wish I still had her for my JV team, hard nosed as it gets.

WOW ... That is unreal ... Great win for Athens ... Wayne Horsley to me has been an excellent coach and leader thus far (from what I can see from the cheap seats) ... he's got some fire, some energy and an attitude that Athens starves for in its coaching ranks ... Nice job Wayne and great job ladies.

Why does that stun you?

Athens entered that game at 0-6 and its scores didn't look close against the opposition. The game was at Vinton County. Vinton County is tough at home. The Vikings have a playmaker in Tori Dixon.
Plus, Vinton County was ahead by I think nine after the first quarter.
So yeah, for Athens to come back and take that one at VC, to me that was a stunner.
