Jackson Ironladies 2011-12

Jackson will have the chance for their best regular season ever and a chance to repeat the feat in the postseason.
Tonight Jackson scrimmaged Eastern Meigs for 6 or 7 varsity quarters and did well in each quarter with all mixes of potential varsity players.
These girls have committed a ton of time. Here's hoping everyone stays healthy and plays a 25+ game schedule including the postseason.

Looking forward to the season. Should be a great year for the Ironladies!
Do you have an idea about a projected rotation, Ironman92?

(Sr)Meredith Harless 5'5 4 year varsity player. Quick with excellent defense and hustle. (Jr) 5'8 Kari Jenkins strong post player with great strength...first or second in scoring last year. (So) 5'8 Madison Ridout...great player as a freshman, can take over a game. Barring injuries she'll be the 5th? Ironlady to go over 1,000 points before she's done. (So) 5'11 Lydia Poe big contributor as a freshman. Tall with a long wing span. Very strong in the post. (So) 5'9 Heather Chapman, excellent athlete with great instincts...can fill up the stat sheet quickly. (So) 5'5 Kerrigan Hoover will probably be the point guard. Very quick hands, her mom is 5th or 6th in Ironlady scoring all-time. (Jr) 5'10 Sarah Martin, great length and will provide many valuable minutes during each game. (So) 5'4 Whitney Wills a quick guard with good hands and can score in bunches.
There are actually 3 or 4 others that could also contribute important minutes on varsity....still a lot of scrimmaging to go.

Thanks for the information. Sounds like depth certainly won't be a problem.
A lot of young players, but experienced. Bright future for the program.

Jackson 57
Peebles 43
Outstanding all-around team game. Seemed like everyone did well with 8-10 points a few boards and some good defense. Jackson got into early foul trouble affecting 3 starters in the first half. The key to the game may have been Whitney Wills, Heather Chapman and Sarah Martin off of the bench. Those 3 made few mistakes and compiled around 15 pts, 12 rb, 5 ast and a few steals. Sr Meredith Harless was awarded the MVP with 8 points on solid shooting from 8-12 feet and her typical hustle and defense.
Peebles was strong 6 deep and will win many many games this season. Baylee Wallace was an outstanding player.
Jackson led something like 56-33 before pulling starters halfway through the 4th.
Excellent overall start.

I was very impressed with Jackson yesterday. Seems like they had 8-9 girls who could start for most teams in the area. #44 in the post for the ironladies(and Peebles for the matter with #44 Baylee Wallace) really stuck out to me. At 6'1" or 6'2" she was a force in the middle. Every one of their guards were solid as well.

Jackson 53
Alexander 11
Excellent Jackson defense and avoided foul trouble. Offense wasn't crisp but 2nd and 3rd quarters were pretty solid. Sophomore Heather Chapman had an excellent game off the bench with probably around 15 points and several rebounds. Free throw shooting was way off. It's extremely early and Jackson will keep improving.
A fun team to watch...great energy and effort all the time.

WoW!!!!! 11 points I knew Alex would be down but not that far. How bad are they. I never thought I would see the day the Spartans would be that bad. They have one of the better coaches in the area somebody let me know what happened. I know we played them this summer and they really didn't have a pg. How many T.O. did they have
I know Jackson is good but the score really surprises me

Alex lost 4 starters and probably first tow off bench. I think there have 11 girls (7 freshman), one girl with varsity experience.

The key to Ironladies success is let the coach do the coaching! She"s a good one and can make the program a success if you let her!

Excellent all-around game by the Ironladies. Tenacious defense in the first half. The whole team just seemed so focused on defense. I think Lydia Poe led the Ironladies with about 12 points...but just like the other two games no one stands out and everyone contributes. I think Jackson had 10 players score. For the 3rd time in 3 games Sarah Martin had an excellent showing off the bench.
The JV game was tight as VC was very quick and got every loose ball but in the end Lexi Humphreys and Kacee Jenkins led the Ironladies to a 39-33 win. Jenkins had 19 and Humphreys 13 or 14.

Let's all post by the rules and stay on topic. EVERYONE needs to discuss the Jackson Ironladies. They're working very hard to represent their community, so let's give them the respect they deserve by not filling this topic with personal arguments.
Thanks.
