Well, let's see. Le Ross scores 39 Great job Le, but, team up by a bunch Coach is still running a half court trap. Must have been worried Jackson was going to score like crazy in the 4th quarter. What's that make the record--10-9 with a chance to play for 5th place in the league? Might be time for a change so this becomes a team that resembles the one that went undefeated in 7th, 8th and 9th grades. Same kids different results. Why?

Well number one, Varsity athletics is not nearly the same as 7th, 8th, and 9th grade athletics. Things change, all kids develop at different rates, and learn skills at different times, also throw in that at the Varsity level you have the best of several grades competing together, not just one class. But I am sure as a parent you've got all the answers!

I agree with you that things change. Marietta lost 5 seniors last year, 4 of which started and one who was the point guard. There was only one returning Varsity player from last year that saw the floor almost the entire game. The rest of the girls played JV with some Varsity time. It is a big change from JV to Varsity; the game gets fast and things change. Marietta was a young team this year with little experience, and having to put a sophomore as point is a challenge, but she has done well. I expect Marietta to very good next year, considering that they will be coming back with lots of experience and 6 Seniors.

Zanesville and Logan are both young, and Warren will be good next year too. It doesn't get any easier.

In the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades they didn't have to play Chilli, Ironton, Zanesville, Gallia etc you get my point. You played mostly county teams or teams close to Marietta. Jr High wins mean nothing in the long haul. It is for player development.

Thanks for all the responses which are well taken. IMO it is just great to see that their are Marietta fans out there because there is usually so little chatter about Marietta on here unless someone they are playing starts it.
So if nothing else, I found life at Marietta still exists
. Keep it up.

How far can they go in the tourney, and which Marietta team shows up?
The one that beat ZVille and Chilly and led Waterford in the 4th, or the one that lost at Ironton and Logan? They are talented, but oh so unpredictable.

Mttafan,
Sometimes that "chatter" you are looking for, can be a double edged sword and cause too many distractions for a team.
People seem to forget these websites are for entertainment only. It is easy for folks to say far more than they normally would or should - most of the time - not really knowing of what they write - typing gossip and "hearsay".
People will type their opinions on websites like this that they would not have the courage to voice in public - anonymity, has a way of allowing that to happen.
My advice - enjoy the quiet - it can be nice.
