GREAT athlete...how many can say they were:

2000+ points in HS

Made state in track all 4 years (she will don't worry, unless she doesn't go out)
Made state in XC 3 times (injured her JR year)

Congratulations Kayla. Very few players if any have worked as hard as you have to get to where you are. The best is still ahead of you. Keep up the hard work and your days at Cincinnati will also be very rewarding.

Congrates to Kayla on the 2000! I have a question, did she get the ball she surpassed Nick Aldridge as the all time scorer for South Webster? It looked like they switched balls or I may have missed something.

Congrats to Miss Cook, you have worked very hard to be where you are now, and its finally paying off. Do most of you know where Kayla lives? There's not many times you'll drive by her house and not see her out in her driveway on her court(she calls it) working out. That is where it all starts, in the off season. I see Kayla out shooting just about everytime I go by her house. One day really stands out, last summer drove by her house on my way to go fishing around 4pm, stayed fishing till around 1a. m. guess what on my way home there she is with the whole neighborhood lit up shooting ball with her brother. Yeah thats right she has lights on her backboard. Sorry to ramble but just so impressed with this young ladies work ethic. Congrats again and good luck at Cincy.

Was very impressed with Portsmouth coaches and announcer last night. I thought they treated Miss Cook like she was from Portsmouth. Not only did they stop the game they called her parents on the floor and then presented Kayla with the ball. Also at half time they updated Kaylas stats on how close she was to breaking the other record then when this happened they stopped the game again and presented her the ball again. That was very classy. Thumbs up to Portsmouth!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. The whole Portsmouth program was very respectful and honored her in the nicest ways possible...

Jeep-ster, I doubt they gave her Nick's actual ball that he received, but I guess it could be a possibility. On the other hand, I don't think that Nick received a personal ball, considering he eclipsed the 2,000 mark in the state championship game. I would think that ball would've belonged to the team. But, once again, I'm not positive on anything. I think they might have just gave her a nicer ball or something....

No you misunderstood my question. I meant at the game last night. She received the ball she made the 2000th point with. And then when she made the points that put her past Nick's all time points. They gave her that ball also. But scorer's table switched balls with the ref. and I just wondered what went on there.

My guess would be that South Webster gave her one of theirs.
