Unioto knocked out of Tourney again by McClain

In h.s. girls basketball, you can have a ton of success by having an effective press. To make it deep into the tourney however, you have to be able to do more.

Coach O is a very good coach and in my opinion the main reason McClain has now 2 years in a row knocked out a UHS team that has had more individual talent. The man knows how to gameplan and get his girls to play as a team.

It was more a tounge in cheek joke, not hating. But every job she's had as soon as the talent level is "low" she has bolted.

Although Dunkle picked up ZT after Tharp graduated and Driggs left and had more success.

A shame that people have to be ignorant and bash a group of kids ( and coach ) who put forth a great effort but came up short on the scoreboard. There probably isn't a team playing in the state that doesn't work hard and put forth the same effort throughout the season. The facts are someone has to come out on the shortend of the score. To bash them or their coach is truely classless.

Making a statement that Unioto will be 'low' on talent proves you have absolutely no clue as to what you are talking about.

Janae is a junior this year and she will definitely see Janae through her senior year. What the future holds for Cyndy after that is up to her.. not anyone else. If she chooses to go or stay is not up to you, me, or any arm chair quarterback on a message forum.

The whole "she leaves when the talent level is low" quote is so far of the mark it really is funny. I can say with all certainty that you don't know Cyndy or you wouldn't make a comment like that.

Cyndy left Unioto in the 90's because she was pregnant with her son. She left teaching and coaching at that point and devoted herself to raising 2 wonderful children. I assume that is the "family issue" you referred too in your earlier post.

Cyndy coached at Zane Trace because she was asked by a school board member. The reason she left Zane Trace had nothing to do with talent and everything to do with politics at the school. It was a rough time for them and it caused a lot of stress. They decided to walk away from the situation rather then be the cause of more hard feelings.

Cyndy has taught most of the girls on the current Unioto team since they were little. After she gave up coaching she held basketball camps every year at her house and coached pee wee league at the school. The kids on the team now, came to her camps every year.. so to say she only came back to Unioto when there was talent is totally discounting her developing the talent in the first place.

With Cyndy, talent is a small part of the equation but she would rather have a player with heart, because as long as a player has heart they are coach-able.

Cyndy is one of the finest people I know and anyone that has been lucky enough to have her coach their child or to interact with her and Jerry have been blessed. She teaches the kids basketball but they walk away with positive life skills.

Before you pronounce judgment on someone.. because you've read something negative on a message board, or you assume you know someone by drawing your own erroneous conclusions perhaps you should scratch below the surface and find the truth.

I have no dog in this fight. But I will say this was an excellant post. It has to hurt being knocked out by the same team 2 years in a row. If you as a fan thinks it hurts, I can only imagine what the Coach and the players are feeling. Don't come down hard on the coach, from what I have read, she is hard enough on herself without any outside help. A good coach these days are harder and harder to find. With the kind of record they have had over the last couple of years, someone is doing something right. This is just my opinion, not wanting to step on any toes or make anyone angry. Good luck to everyone involved.

She has coached for 16 seasons in 26 years with 10 SVC championships at 2 different schools 9 years at Unioto, 4 years at ZT and now 3 more at Unioto and you wonder why some might think she leaves when the talent leaves. UMMMMM, because its probably true! lol Her last 2 stints at ZT and Unioto for 7 years, 6 SVC championships. Come on, it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, its probably a duck.
