Congratulations Coach Burdette

Post by playing2win »

Congrats to Coach John Burdette on his COY for the TVC Hocking Division. Along with a great group of atheletes, Coach Burdette has turned this program around after 2 years and gotten the Eastern Eagles back to their winning ways. Good luck in your tournament run!

So is this official or just wishful thinking. I think he deserves it but haven't heard it announced yet.

Normally the coach of the year is the coach of the team that wins their division.

Led Eastern to an 18-2 record with both losses to Waterford. Excellent job

District selections will not be made until next week. Johnny B was not the District COY as of now.

League honors — both players and coaches — are voted on by the coaches.

The district teams are voted on by the AP members of the media in SE Ohio.

Have not received the All-TVC lists yet, so I cannot confirm or deny this thread.

bdubya, Why don't we clarify this a bit. Most league player picks are done by each team's coach. In other words, the coach hand selects the player or players he wants on the league team. On rare occasions, he will select more than the picks he is allowed (which is based on what place he ended up in the league;1st, 2nd, etc.) and let the other coaches make their selections from those players he has nominated and then whoever makes it doesn't totally fall on his shoulders but is truly selected by all the coaches in the league. Does anyone want to argue this point?

Actually Coach was District COY as voted by the Coaches Association, the media is not the end all be all.

Just for clarification, District COY and District 13 COY are not the same thing.

The SE Ohio district (AP) is roughly four times the size of D-13.

District COY is media related. D-13 COY is selected by coaches in a specific area.

Media — and media only — also select the all-Ohio teams. Which is the end-all, be-all list that everyone wants to be a part of.

The D-13 list has also not been released yet, so cannot confirm or deny this thread either.

Also, Knollwood. The league selections are made by coaches. They nominate their players, but cannot vote for their own players.

It's checks and balances, but they usually get it dead right.

Also, placement in the standings usually determines the representation for any one program.
