Any thoughts? I see the big school division being a dogfight with Eastern, Lynchburg, North Adams, and Ripley all being in the hunt. Eastern is always tough and I don't see them falling off any with the coaching change. Lynchburg returns some good players but could drop off some depending on how they adjust to the new coach. North Adams returns all but one player from last years team and how they adjust to the loss of Beasley will determine how far they go this season. She accounted for a lot of their offense. Ripley is going to be one of the more improved teams in the league and have some very good young players to go with their returners. Hopefully West Union has a better year than last season but they graduated several players and if I'm not mistaken will only return 3 with much varsity experience.

Small school is Fayetteville's to lose IMO. They return one of the best players in the league and they are talented top to bottom. After that it's tough to say. Fairfield returns the best post player but I don't know much about the other returners. Manchester should be good and they have a lot of experienced players including one of the better players in the league. Peebles is similar to North Adams in that they lost Emily Hoop and how they adjust will determine how the season goes. I still think Peebles is a year or two away but they will be tough in the near future. Hopefully Whiteoak improves some from last season.

The Lady Devils looked fairly good at times yesterday in their first scrimmage. Have things to work on, but looking pretty good. I think it is between North Adams and Eastern in the big school with Ripley being the spoiler for someone. Both NA and Eastern looked very good this past summer and I see these two battling it out for the top spot. Ripley is a scary team. They remind me of NA a couple years ago because they are young, talented, quick, and scrappy.

I agree that Fayetteville is probably the team to beat in the small school. Fairfield will be tough though as they looked pretty good this summer as well. Manchester has some talent and will be competitive. I also agree that Peebles is still a year or two away. They do have some talent, but very young.

West Union is working very hard right now with new head Coach Shannon Staggs. They play this weekend at Wellston and then Norte Dame will be coming to town on the 16th. So that will tell us how far they have come. I know the team had a descent summer, or should I say they had a summer. They played 23 games and looked pretty good at the end of the summer. I think good things will come out of this season and hopefully will get this program going in the right direction.

Saturday the West Union Lady Dragons played several scrimmages at Welston and looked fantastic. They won some of the scrimmages and for a young team, they are going to do a lot better this year than last, and next year, a top contender.

Coaches Staggs and Young have done a fantastic job of teaching pays and building a strong program.

Tarheelfan, is the reason you can't spell because you are focused on talking in 3rd person?

Look out for the Lady Lions.

3 new starters that did not play last year, along with the Riddle girl = surprise team in the SHL.

Should be fun to watch.

Lady Lions look solid at all 5 positions with a little depth off of the bench. Could be a fun year watching them.

I agree that Fairfield could be the suprise team in the league. Seems people tend to underestimate them. I think.
Anxious to see West Union with their new coach. Hopefully, things will look better for them.

Eastern, as always will be tough. I think North Adams should do well if they believe they can. Losing just one player, although she was their high scorer, is a plus since they are returning everyone. They have a lot of weapons they can use still.

Ripley is young but impressive.

Tonight will be a good test for Fairfield as they host North Adams. The biggest game tonight will be Fayetteville hosting Lynchburg Clay. Ripley will be hosting Peebles so we will see which of those two young teams come out on top.

North Adams over Fairfield last night 44-28. Best wishes go out to Chelsea Riddle on a full recovery from her knee injury/surgery. Can't say enough about what a quality player/person she is and I'm sure all SHL fans are saddened to see her senior season end like this as she was fun to watch and the best post player in the SHL IMO but I have no doubt she will make a full recovery and be playing college ball next season.
Fayetteville over Lynchburg by 2 in what sounded like a great game.

Sorry to hear about Chelsea Riddle. Loved watching the young lady play ball. Good luck to you, Chelsea. We pray for a full recovery for you!

Lady Greyhounds over Manchester last night. 67-37 F.

Terrible loss for Fairfield in losing Chelsey Riddle. She was an outstanding player and an even better person. They have been banged up all year with two players still out from volleyball and another starter tore her ankle up against North Adams. A promising season at the start has turned into a disaster so far for Fairfield.
