they look strong and West is going to a 1000% better. talent plus lots of hard work = W's. and they are going to get a bunch of them. would'nt be suprised for West to finish very high in SOC2. Actually impressed with the scapiness and hustle from New Boston also.
Clay eeeked out a 1 point win over Minford. Both teams subbed freely . Burg beat ND easily. ND only put up 6 points.

Excellent team there Oak Hill! Discipline, hustle and playing team ball will take you a long way again this year! The Tigers will not be facing any teams in Division I that will even come close to the talent you have. Good Luck!

minford with the exception of the one scorer looks a litte offensively challenged. Clay IMO will improve as the freshman PG leans the varsity game better, and she will learn very very fast . Clay must be really deep , 2 freshman good enough to start for several SOC 1 schools not dressing varsity. MD

Clay players looked strong but not the coaching. I know it was only the previews, but Wheelersburg handled Clay easily the next morning in their scrimmage when Clay had a clear advantage in height but was out-rebounded. Wheelersburg is constantly moving and attacking the rim..where Clay stood around. I've never seen a team (Clay) put their big players up top on a full court press...those girls, within 15 seconds of sprinting, were done. They had to be subbed out because they were gassed. I understand trying to have the bigger players trap Burg in a backcourt, but when you're playing a quick team that can handle the ball...that was dumb. So far, between previews and the Burg scrimmage, Clay's offense if just passing the ball around that parameter. Clay's best scoring chances are going to come from the fast break and Curley will be the one leading the fast breaks!
Oak Hill girls looked real strong putting up almost 50pts...Burg and Minford look strong as well!
Good Luck to all the teams on a great season!

burg is interesting team. very small. but atheletic and quick and well coached for sure. But they don't have any height at all. I like that comment about them " always moving and attacking the rim" very true comment. They sure get in the passing lanes and disrupt what you want to do -- any one ever hear of "back door cut" ? would be easy pickens' for several baskets and get them backed off where you could run your offense. got to make them pay for all the serious overplaying. I agree if you put big girls on the point of a press they have to be atheltic and run, Redding is who I would use at the point, she can move and is atheltic, but she isn't playing up. I always say in the end it comes down to coaching, unless you have several D1 players, and even then you got to coach..Burg has a tough player in schmidt, don't know about anyone else..they are always tough to beat, but they have a coach that utilized what he has..With Curley I would try to run pick and rolls, with my shooters setting up on the wings for a kick out and shoot, curley will pass, but she is strong enough to penetrate and score..oh well, the season is long.. :122245

NW --middle of the pack at best in the SOC 2 . around a 500% ballclub is my best guess.

Agreed. We scrimmaged Wheelersburg about 10 days ago and they were tough. The Schmidt girl is AWESOME and the PG (don't know her name) was fantastic as well. I look for Burg to be an extremely tough challenge for anyone in the SOC. Coach Spradlin does a great job coaching. Good luck to him and the Lady Pirates this season.
