Re: Waverly
Waverly should be better than the last few years. The problem with Waverly and other programs that are a few steps behind the better teams in the area is the time spent playing spring ball. With the exception of Hannah Brewster, I have not seen any players from Waverly playing in the spring GBA or AAU circuits. It's just hard to catch up to the speed of the better teams in the area. Hannah does look quite a bit stronger this year, maybe has grown an inch or two from last year and can put the ball in the basket. Watching the teams warmup in the preview, I wonder if Waverly can put enough points on the board to win many more games this year. I think Waverly has enough athletes to give some teams problems. With a lot of effort they should pull out more wins than the last few years if they can get a few more balls to go in the basket this year.

Re: Waverly
Good effort Waverly. I believe they will get better as the season goes on. There are a few girls from the JV team that has played club ball. The Wiget girl that was point guard did not play last year, but has played I think two years previously. There are a few JV girls that have potential in the future. Good luck on the rest of the season.

Re: Waverly
It should be a good game Thursday night as well. The Lady Pirates of Wheelersburg come to Waverly.Waverly may have an edge on height, but the Lady Pirates last year would out scrap and out quick thier opponet.I think it comes down to whoever can impose their style of play on the other will come out the winner.Valley pretty much did that to Waverly last night.Waverly had NO answer for the press and it cost them late....

Re: Waverly
Waverly did fine with burgs press, that is how they scored majority of their points. Waverly is not conditioned and got tired in the 4th quarter.
Re: Waverly
I saw the Valley game...What I noticed is, they try to run and gun too much...I think they need to play more of a half court style for now....
Re: Waverly
Sorry, I am not on here very often any more.
The Pirates outscored the Tigers in three of the four quarters:
Wheelersburg 16 .6 15 13 = 50
Waverly ....... 8 14 .8 .8 = 38
I could look up what the difference was in the second quarter but I seemed to recall a little foul trouble for the Pirates and some turnovers but mostly cold shooting for the Pirates and hot shooting for the Tigers that made the big difference. The game was tied 26-26 with 6:13 left in the third quarter but the Pirates had 7-0 run in less than 2 minutes to open up the game and never trailed again. Ali Walls hit a 3-point shot at the start of the fourth quarter to cut the lead to four but that was as close as the Tigers got.

Re: Waverly
Wow, what is going on with Waverly? I saw them play in the summer and thought they would be a little more competitive this year. Not alot of input from the Waverly faithful about the girls teams. Is there any hope from the younger grades? Waverly was fun to watch a few years back. Good luck Monday.
