I was part of the ND train trying to get to Wellston. It was very unsafe. classy post jerkoff

enlighten us MD what is this about?

Here's the story. Friday night Notre Dame was schedule to play in the National Hoops Classic in Wellston. Wellston has been doing this tournament for 20 years almost and it's been a class act tournament. Well as we all know it did snow Friday night and Notre Dame calls at 7:30 saying they don't know if they can make it or not bc of the conditions of roads. Which we all completely understand and we do care about the safety of all TEAMS!! Well the Ad did call back and told us that they were coming to play. 20 minutes later Coach calls and said they at turning around bc of conditions were getting worse. We all understood! However, we started talking about possible times for Saturday and we were willingly going to move all of the games up an hour or down an hour so the games could all be played. Well we were told someone had prior plans and that they would not be playing at all on Saturday or Sunday! You may not know what all is involved to play the games. 3 refs $180 total, 20 t-shirt $180, Trophies Team & MVP $60 and not to mention the team they was playing now only has 19 games on it's schedule.. Needless to say I don't see them being invited back in te future to play in the Hoops Classic..

ok thanks...i think it should have been made up...but maybe they wouldn't have enough kids

so if some players were not available on sat we were supposed to go play on sunday with a conference game on Monday ? whatever.

Follow ref51 all he can do is claim his team got hosed and the bad mouth the rational decisions of safety. I will also add that he's the first one on here when his team wins and you can't find him when they get handled like they did tonight. The guy screams class.

I help coach in the boys program... We work very hard on our National Hoops Classic each year... And yes I follow and support our girls program!!

No one ever said you did not work hard on your classic, but I did say you got on here and made snide remarks aBout a team that did not make a trip for safety reasons. That is class coming from a person who works with young people, but hey don't you coach in a place where practice and the 1st 6 games are optional?

Like I said we were all about safety!!! We offered them hotel rooms on Saturday night!! The bottom line was that the Coach did no want to play no matter what we tried to work out...

Comments shouldnt be made, at least on a public forum or within earshot of the other team or ref's (couple of weeks ago)..but if you commit to a tourny and dont go because a player has a prior commitment or a coach then you know that game will be forefited. In school ball you sometimes have to make decisions and alot of players and parents to understand the commitment anymore. I have heard stories from other coaches where parents told them my kid wont be there cause we have a dinner in Columbus or such..so with or without your best player you have to play the game..but no comments need be made, problem with the electronic age..Ci la vi..did the other team win by forefit?

hotel rooms for sat night ? In one post you are complaining about the cost of trophies and ref's and then in the next post you offer up hotel rooms ? you mean Wellston offered to pay for hotel rooms for a sat night game ? Strickly FWIW I wish we would play , our team needs the reps. MD

Notre Dame could not make it because of the weather, the conflict was on rescheduling. Now ref is trying to dig out of this hole by making things up.
