Div IV Records in Northwest Sectional
Re: Div IV Records in Northwest Sectional
1 Portsmouth Clay 14-5
2 Portsmouth Notre Dame 10-6
3 Sciotoville East 8-11
4 Bainbridge Paint Valley 7-12
5 New Boston Glenwood 8-11
6 Manchester 7-11
7 Latham Western 4-12
8 Leesburg Fairfield 1-17
9 Franklin Furnace Green 1-18
10 Mowrystown Whiteoak 1-18
It looks like the Clay Panthers are the front runners, while Notre Dame, Manchester, East and New Boston might be the ones fighting it out for the sectional. As we all know that anything can happen when tournaments start! Good Luck to all!

Re: Div IV Records in Northwest Sectional
South Webster's strength of schedule is much higher than the other schools mentioned. Playing mostly D3 schools. They have beaten Green, play East on on 1/31 (we'll see what happens there), and have already beaten Clay by 21. They even took Notre Dame (however that was at the SOC previews and I dont think anything should be counted on at previews). They are very young but I believe they would stand a greater chance of advancing if they were in the Northwest Sectional as appossed to being in the Athens Sectional.a_c_m wrote:Here is what I have! Portsmouth Clay 9-4
Portsmouth Notre Dame 6-5
Manchester 5-5
Sciotoville East 6-8
South Webster 4-8
New Boston Glenwood 4-9
Latham Western 2-8
Mowrystown Whiteoak 1-10
Franklin Furnace Green 1-12
Leesburg Fairfield 0-10

THe Athens sectional must be much stronger.
CLay got beat by 4-8 SW by 21 and they are going to be the far and away #1 seed.

Webster is 4-8 but thier schedule is against D3 schools..Oak Hill, Wheelersburg, Minford, Valley, West,Piketon....Ironman92 wrote:THe Athens sectional must be much stronger.

The Athens sectional would include Waterford, Eastern Pike, Eastern Reedsville. I know at least these three are very good teams.
Re: Div IV Records in Northwest Sectional
According to http://www.svcsportszone.com Paint Valley is now 6-9 and I think they played in this sectional last year.
Re: Div IV Records in Northwest Sectional
Looking for updates on records Fairfield is winless Paint Valley 6-10 Whiteoak 1-14 Manchester 6-8 or 6-9. Updates from the SOC would be great!

Re: Div IV Records in Northwest Sectional
Clay beat Fairland last night 64-63. Their record is 11 - 5. The Athens sectional is stronger because they have Waterford and Reedsville Eastern. Beyond those two teams ... not much difference. Clay split with Eastern Pike this year. Lost to Webster by a lot but that was a bit of a fluke. Webster has since lost to teams that Clay has handled pretty well (Waverly, East twice).

I wouldn't count Paint Valley out. They play in a tough league. Last year they advanced to districts with a record that wasn't that good if I am not mistaken.

Re: Div IV Records in Northwest Sectional
There must have been some side note to SW beating Clay handily but losing to East twice. I saw that score recently (SW-East) and thought SW must be a little weak. Was Clay at full roster when they played , maybe it was just very early in the year ? OR SW could have had players out against East.
In the SOC previews ND played Burg not SW .
ND is now 8-5 with Western (who we beat up there) and Raceland comin up -- could be 10-5 but with girls HS hoops who knows for sure.
IMo Clay is the easy # 1 seed. #2 up for grabs but ND may have the best W-L record.
When do they draw ? ND's toughest games are later in Feb. MD

MD, Clay beat East twice. Webster lost only once to them. "Fluke" is probably not the best term for the Webster-Clay game. Maybe bad matchups for Clay. Clay has had a few of those games this year and it really cost them. Hope I didn't offend any of my Webster friends.

Re: Div IV Records in Northwest Sectional
no , not my intention to poor mouth SW either, I just know Clay is very solid and clearly the class of that sectional. Odd that they lose big to Webster but handle East with ease. Then East beats SW . could just be matchups . Or simply a terrible night.
Still can't see how SW lost to East. surprising score for sure. MD

Re: Div IV Records in Northwest Sectional
Webster is without thier season point leader which is also thier point guard. She has been injured, blatant foul at, of course, Northwest. Second half of the east game one of websters post players caught a bad elbow and did not return. The team is very young, starting three, sometimes four sophomores, a freshman and a junior. When a team this young has injuries it's not hard to see the bench is not very deep. Not a good night for the lady jeeps but they will be back and the core team should be around for another couple of years. Not to mention, I believe the 8, 7, and 6 th grade classes have been doing very well also. On the bright side even without thier points leader they still had the game high points leader.
