Jackson Ironladies 2012-13

Post by Ironman92 »

Good win to start the season over an excellent Shekinah Christian team.

Jackson overcame some foul trouble and poor shooting early on to defeat SC 70-59.

Jackson led 16-9 with the final shot of the quarter but ended up missing two free throws and then gave up a 3 to kill the momentum. Jackson struggled in the 2nd quarter as SC shot free throw after free throw and made all but 1.

Juniors Lydia Poe and Madison Ridout scored the first 32 points for Jackson...before Whitney Wills laid in a putback.....Poe and Ridout continued scoring and then senior Kari Jenkins proved to be the spark plug scoring about 14 points in a span of about 8 minutes.

Jackson pulled to a 65-47 lead and SC didn't know what hit them.

For the game I think SC had 11 fouls and Jackson 23. SC must've been about 21-23 from the line. They are going to win a lot of games....so are the Ironladies.

For Jackson Lydia Poe was game MVP with I'm guessing about 22 points/15 rb. Ridout must've had 18 or so and Jenkins around 14. Wills 7, Humphreys 3, Kacee Jenkins 2, Hoover 3.....nothing official of course

Did Jenkins only play about a qtr, or did she play a majority of the game and score 14 in a one qtr spurt?

Yeah...I re-read it that way as well. I'll reword it.

Jenkins started and played starter minutes...but caught fire and scored several baskets in a short amount of time.

That is a hard team to beat if they continue to spread the scoring like that.

I know last year it was very rare to surpass 45 points on Greenfield....it sounds like Jackson couldn't hit much early....but Greenfield focuses on defense and 62 on the road is solid.

2-0

Another nice win for the Ironladies. Looking pretty tough so far.

Saw Jackson play at Paint Valley. Extremely impressed with them. If they play like that all year, they will be very tough to beat.

Anyone know if the Poe girl is being recruited by any Division I colleges? She really impressed me. I think she is one of the most dominate post players I have seen in awhile (and yes I have seen the girl from Fairland). In my opinion, she is the best post player in Southern Ohio.

Not sure who has recruited her....but she's definitely being recruited pretty well. I've heard schools but forget who and don't want to say the wrong ones.

Not surprised she is getting a lot of looks. Hope I get a chance to watch this team play again this year.
