(2012) ... Arlington beat them 52-37 in the finals.
(2011) ... Harvest Prep won the state title.
(2010) ... Harvest Prep beat Highland in the finals.
(2009) ... Africentric beat Highland in the finals

(2008) ... BERLIN HIGHLAND beat Africentric for the state championship

* they have been in 4-of-the-last-5 finals however - winning one of them.

Thanks for clearing that up maybe that's why I was thinking they won since they seem to always be playing for the title. lol

It is impressive to make it to the state tournament every year ... the pipeline of girls basketball players in that area must be amazing ... to be that succesful year in and year out just doesn't seem possible.

The Hiland boys are, not the girls. Boys won in 2011 and 2012 and graduated everyone. This year they lost in the district championship on Saturday.

This Hiland girl's team is not a vintage Hiland team. I know it's hard to say that without sounding like a bit of a jerk, but they've been in the final 4 8 of the past 10 years and 9 times in the 2000s winning 4 times. I don't think this Hiland team is close to the level of the 4 state championship teams but time will tell.

If you want to talk about clusters of players you have to mention Waterford/Fort Frye---these two schools are basically a rock's throw apart and Waterford lost to NC by 2 in the Regional (they seem to have a ticket there every year). Washington Co. as a whole produced some great basketball if you include Marietta and Warren in the mix.

I know West Holmes dominated our Regional and their only loss was to Highland---that's not to shabby either when you put 2 teams in the State from the same County.

I've always thought it was crazy how good both Waterford and Fort Frye are year in and year out being so close to one another. Eastern has Southern and Meogs close to them and they combine for about 5 wins a year between them lol

With that great success it's a good thing Hiland isnt a Catholic school or they would be accused of recruiting

Just wanted to take a minute and thank everyone who is supporting our Lady Eagles. The Waterford team, coaches & staff sent flowers to the school today! That's wonderful. The Meigs County Courthouse has signs up! All the other schools that were there for the regional final supporting us didn't go unnoticed either. South Gallia, Trimble, Federal Hocking, Waterford, Meigs, and Southern folks were some that I saw. I'm sure there were others! It is so great when a community comes out in force to cheer on the girls! Now, let's go Ladies. Keep up the hard work and keep up the team work that got you to the FINAL FOUR. You are a wonderful group of young ladies that deserve everything that you've gotten so far. We all knew you were special from kindergarten on! Now go out and prove it to all the doubters!

The Columbus Dispatch had a page dedicated to the girls state tournament this morning ... I would suggest to any Eastern fans/parents to pick one up and keep it, its not every day we have a southeast team talked about on one of those pages.
