I'm an SOC spectator and go to a lot of West and Valley games mostly, but this has allowed me to see just about everybody including a few my daughter and I made a special trip just to watch. I've yet to see Coal Grove and Fairland.

My seeds would go as follows:

1. Oak Hill
2. Fairland
3. Valley
4. Burg
5. South Point
6. Minford
7. Ironton
8. Chesapeake
9. Coal Grove
10. Portsmouth

The SOC has been brutal at the top with Oak Hill, Webster, Valley, Burg, Minford, Northwest. NO letup. Personally, I think Minford is better than South Point, but I don't think those two got to play head to head. I also think Ironton is better than South Point but I saw that one live and South Point won head to head.

Wow....if you don't mind who are their 3 losses to and maybe a couple of their better wins.

You don't hear much about South Point.

Fairland lost to 15-2 D2 Jackson and powerhouse Huntington High.....who else beat them?

I'd guess them as the best team.

With Fairland's tough schedule, they should be the number 1 seed.

South Point lost to Athens, Fairland and Greenup County. They got another win last night over River Valley so they are now 16-3.

the problem I have with South Point is they have played absolutely nobody. They have played about 4 tough games and are 1-3. The lone big win being Ironton (who by the way will be the 6 or 7 seed in this sectional!)

South Points wins are as follows: Lawrence County, Buffalo (WV), Ironton, Rock Hill (x2), Fairview, Gallipolis (x2), Cross Lanes WV, Chesapeake (x2), St. Joes, River Valley (x2) Coal Grove (x2).

Losses: Fairland by twenty-some, Athens, Greenup at home

Looking at that resume, are you kidding me? I am a West Sider and I don't have a dog in this fight, but I do keep articles and my mind on teams in the area because I love basketball and I have a girl that will be playing middle school / high school ball in the years to come. You can say I am biased but a league with Oak Hill, Valley, Webster, Burg, Minford, and Northwest is loaded in comparison to the OVC. Fairland is better than Oak Hill assuming they have the same girls as last year in my opinion even though Oaks will get the 1 seed, so I'm not completely biased.

Take a look at the Greenup home loss for South Point. I was at the Wellston Classic to watch West get screwed over by officials versus Wellston (don't get me going on that game again!) and I hung around for the Burg/Greenup game, and it really wasn't a game. Burg put the clamps on defensively and beat 'em. Webster beat Greenup the other night. Then you say well Greenup rocked Ironton and while I agree, that's also South Point's most impressive win on the year. South Point beats Greenup and I say they are the 3. They lost that game and it should cost them. Playing weak schools out of state should not be rewarded.

If Minford and South Point were playing in a game on a neutral floor, I'm picking Minford. If South Point gets the 3 seed, then all these teams in this area need to check in on playing Buffalo WV, cross lanes WV (x2), Lawerence County (x2) and fairviews of the world.

If you want a 3 seed in the BEST D3 sectional by a landslide, then play somebody or beat somebody.
Burg plays Fairland next week in a rescheduled game and if you were giving Burg the 20 South Point lost to Fairland by, then I'm betting on the Burg. And let's be honest, Burg is only going to score 30-40 points versus Fairland but those coaches and girls will at least scractch and claw there way to only a 10-12 point loss.

Just look at the schedules for Valley and Burg compared to SP:

Valley's Wins: Lynchburg Clay, Northwest, West (x2), Clay, WEBSTER, Waverly (x2), Burg, Ironton, Portsmouth

Valley's Losses: Oak Hill (x2), Minford, Burg, Unioto

Burg's Wins: Washington Court House, West, Northwest (x2),Greenup, Minford (x2),Coal Grove, Fairfield, Valley

Burg's Losses: Webster (x2), Oak Hill (x2), Valley, Greenfield McClain

SP Key Wins: Ironton (7 seed), maybe chesapeake twice but they will be the 8 seed

Valley Key Wins: Lynchburg Clay (3 seed in other bracket), Northwest (4 seed in other bracket), Webster (high d4 seed), Burg (3 or 4 or 5 seed), Ironton (Same big win as SP) and they did it by 20 not 7 like South Point

Burg Key Wins: Wash. Court House (D2), Greenup (Win that South Point lost to), Minford (x2) (If you count Peake, then you gotta count Minford), Valley (3 or 4 or 5 Seed)

Also... just looking at Fairland's schedule versus Doug Hale's schedule at Oak Hill, if Fairland isn't the one seed, it will be a travesty. I think Fairland easily moves on to Regional play again this year.

By the way, I see Portsmouth beat Coal Grove. Should the head to head determine the 9,10 seeding? Coal grove has 5 wins and Portsmouth has 2.

Coulda be a cloudy picture in this one! Are parents allowed to go the draw and listen in? I was thinking of heading to Jackson. I will post my thoughts on the other 2 D3's more in depth like this one later today or tomorrow!

Yeah....that gave me a guess that the schedule wasn't too tough.

How many D3 teams advance to regionals? 2 or 3?

Fairland

Oak Hill and Greenfield

So many teams can give OH and Greenfield enough to upset them....Valley, Piketon, Nelsonville, Belpre, Wheelersburg, Minford, South Point, Lynchburg Clay, Westfall, Crooksville, Alexander.....should be interesting

Three teams get out to the Regionals this year in Division III and it wouldn't be a stretch to see at least two of them come from the Rock Hill Sectional in Fairland and Oak Hill. After that there are several that you mentioned that could get there too: Lucasville Valley, Greenfield, Nelsonville, South Point, and Wheelersburg would be my best bets for the third representative. Without a doubt the Rock Hill sectional is the deepest, followed by Athens, and then Lucasville.

TornadoCagers it looks like you have kept pretty close tabs on everything. The Burg is now just getting their point guard back she has been out all year. She came back some this week against Northwest and West. This hopefully help them out come tournament.
