This should be a good game.
Athens has good guards and will be a test for Waterford.
Not sure Athens can handle Waterford's size. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.
Great TVC Ohio vs TVC Hocking matchup
I will predict
Waterford 55
Athens 45

I don't think solving any matchup issues will be a problem for the Dogs. I'm sure they have a plan. The question will be if any team can handle their pressure on defense and their offensive sets.

The Dogs are on a historic start to a magical season, and I can't see anyone in this area stopping them. But, that's why we play the games! I hope it is a good injury free competitive game.

This game lacked what I thought would be a good game.
Outside shooting from Athens and post play by Waterford. Not sure what was going on with Waterford but they looked out of sorts. Athens pressed first quarter but seemed to vacate their typical style of play. Waterford didn’t get in a groove offensively and seemed to be confused on what was going on. Players out of position and not utilizing their strengths. Athens didn’t shoot much but when they did - they shot well.
Expected a much different game than what played out.

The constant pressure on Meigs for 4 qtrs was the difference in Athens pulling out the win in this game.

Oops

I agree Waterford did look like they were trying to figure something out on the go, and it felt a little out of sorts. I'm not sure this group has a true point guard and they do struggle to get into their sets. I do think they may have found something with the 5 out offense, they spread them out and found the cutters and finished at the rim well. Its unconventional, but I would like to see Wagner out of the paint and little more. She draws a lot of attention under the basket, in the high post or higher she can be more of a facilitator. She is a willing passer and also has the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the basket some. The 5 out will also allow her to pass and post creating more 1v1s in the post as the other girls are spreadout by the 3 pt line. Athens didn't have an answer for Sury and struggled against Waterford's quickness on defense. I counted 4 of 18 from behind the arc, and only going 1 of 12 in the 1st half for Athens tonight.

Not a surprise, if you never work on anything in the half court, you’re going to lose to teams that will make you play in the half court. It’s easy to make one outlet pass and get a layup on a team who doesn’t get back in transition, but good teams do…so practice that against the bad ones.

I’m more interested in how Waterford keeps winning if it’s as much of a disaster as I’ve read on here. They’ve taken care of their 4 biggest teams so far, but it sounds like they need to get some things figured out…however that’s unlikely to happen in season.

Interest point and I agree. On one hand, they are 9-0. On the other hand, will things catch up to them and, if so, how do they handle it?

The demise of Waterford may be the most overblown thing I have ever seen. They have played great all year.

I am interested in where Athens fits in to the DIII pecking order in SEO. I have not seen Athens live but I think Unioto, Sheridan, Marietta and Athens are all good but I still give the edge to Unioto and Sheridan. Also don't forget that although Athens doesn't have much depth (seems most teams don't) they are still young with one senior starting. The Athens-Marietta game will be interesting.

With all the supposed “turmoil” at Waterford they just keep on winning. Coach Close has been to the state tournament 7 times in 10 years, and people don’t realize how good of a coach he really is. Many on this site want Waterford to fail, but it looks like another deep tournament run is in the works again. Great coach, great players, great fan base, and great program.

Congratulations to Waterford on the victory.

Every team can have an off night, and the Bulldogs obviously did not bring their "A" game. Waterford capitalized on that.

I am sure that the Dogs will regroup and continue on towards all of their goals for this season. Many things can be learned in defeat. I have no doubt that they will bounce back and get back on a roll.

This site has turned to younger posters that just log on to troll. Every new poster is going to have that potential label for a while. Your posts are positive towards your team. Welcome

Thank you Ironman92. I am an admitted "homer" for the Bulldogs, but I don't believe in saying negative things towards anyone.

I enjoy a spirited debate, but it does seem like there are some on here that just like to "troll", as you say
