South Webster & Athens will be playing Sat. Aug. 28th at Columbus Crew Stadium.

Crew vs FC Dallas vs. : 4:00pm
SW vs. Athens: 7:00pm

Tickets get you into both games for $25.

Does the Crew do this for many Columbus area teams? Does each school have to sell a certain amount of tickets? What a great experience for the kids to be able to play on a professional soccer field!

I believe each school has to sell 200 tickets. This is a great opportunity for the kids. I think any school can play on the field as long as they can sell the tickets and the Crew still have a slot available. Waverly is going to look into this next season.

I will be at the crew game because my grandaughter is one of the Crewzers, so I try to catch all the games. Hopefully I can see some of the Athens-South Webster game as well.

Just returned from a great day at Crew Stadium. The weather was perfect. The Crew game was pretty unorganized and physical from both sides. Neither team created much the entire match.

South Webster 2 Athens 0

Athens controlled the game from the start for about the first 20 minutes until South Webster got through the middle of Athens D to go up 1-0. From that point on Webster took control and created the majority of the chances. Athens had some good possession but didn't really create any dangerous chances all night. At the end of the 1st half one of the worst call I have even seen put Webster up 2-0. An Athens defender took a swipe to clear the ball out of the air from just outside the 18. The ball went off the side of his foot and directly into the air towards his own keeper. The keeper caught the ball and a hand ball was called which resulted in an indirect kick 3yrds away which Webster put away. I would really like to hear the explanation from the official on his call. There is no way that I can see how he could think that it was a pass back to the keeper. It was a simple miss kick which wouldn't result in a handball.

I didn't get to stay for the game. As a matter of fact, I didn't even get to finish the Crew game because my grandaughter had a bad asthma attack after they did their dance at half time. After she was treated by the medical staff, we had to get her home. Congrats to South Webster on the win. And to number 4 on that team, I enjoyed talking with you and thank you for the little soccer ball you caught and gave to me. That was really sweet of you.
