I have heard that beginning with next season that the cross conference games will no longer be necessary. SOC II can schedule SOC I teams if they want or vice versa. That will give Waverly and others who want to schedule more non conference games that chance.

poor pitiful tigers. they have to suffer through a soc schedule. i doubt they believe their record with chillicothe would be indicative of how they would fair against tougher schedule. you would think some would remember the saying that be careful what you wish for because you might surely get it. hope the tigers can bear the balance of the season. by the way. how are the rest of the sports programs fairing in the poor soc?

I remember the days of Waverly being in the SEOAL where they were one of the smallest schools in that league. The Tigers left that league to participate in the SOC where they are one of the largest schools in the conference. Which way do you want it? The SOC has been competitive for many years in soccer especially. Waverly has never dominated the league. I remember many years where they lost to the SOC 1 divison teams pretty often.

I wasn't discrediting the league at all, I was just saying that we hear the "weak schedule" argument about Waverly every year but we can't help scheduling the majority of our matches against Division III opponents...I wasn't disrespecting the league or any team in it...I wish they would let us drop to Division III so we could be a little more competitive come tournament time! :-D

It is what it is, think back to 1998 Waverly's third year with soccer made it to district finals only to lose to then final 4 participant Valley. Waverly would probably fair pretty well in D3 now but their student body is too big. Granted the soccer team does pull the majority of skilled athletes from the school. But gets no respect from the community as a competitive sport, boy they are missing out. As for the SOC it's a pretty competitive league especially with wheelersburg winning the league in about every sport every year. Waverly soccer will get there in D2 just like it has in the SOC. 4 league titles in the past 6 seasons and maybe another this year.

The rest of the sports are doing quite well. The golf team won the league. The volleyball team is in second place and the soccer team has a leg up in the league race. You have to realize that Chillicothe is a city 5 times bigger than Waverly with a real productive youth soccer program. Also the girl's tennis team was either 1st or second.

You speak of Chillicothe being 5 times bigger than Waverly. Waverly is 6 times bigger than New Boston and 5 times bigger than Clay as far as school enrollment goes.
