Im going with:
1 - Unioto
2 - Waverly
3 - Chillicothe
4 - Marietta
5 - Warren
This to me is the way things should shape out assuming the seasons finish as anticipated.

That's probably how I would have it as well. Even throw in an Athens and Jackson and it's going to be tough to even get one W in that sectional.
I think it there will be great Sectional Finals and then again with District Finals, but not so sure on the District Semi's.
But, it seems like Fairfield Union can play with anybody(ties with Bloom Carroll, Chillicothe, win over Hamilton Twp) but also plays to their opponent's level, so they could be a tough out or be gone before the Districts. They are 5-2-5 with only 1.5 goals per game and allowing only .67 goals per game. Hillsboro, Circleville also seem to be competitive as well.

What makes it hard to make this list is the unpredictable and inconsistent results. For example, Waverly is ranked as 2 on your list, but they're 2-2 against fellow sectional teams. Only two of their wins on their record comes from a fellow sectional team. I don't think being 2-2 gets a team in the second spot. Waverly is a good team, but so are just about everyone else in the sectional. Maybe they're the #4? They've beaten Chillicothe, but lost to Unioto and Athens. Chillicothe lost to Waverly and got beaten badly by Unioto, but beat Marietta. Marietta beat Warren the first meeting, but then Warren turned around and beat down them down 5-2 last week. Wow, that's complicated. All of these team are strong. I don't think anybody is going to feel too rewarded with their opening round matchup from #2 on down.goodsoccer8 wrote:Im going with:

The only clear cut consistent team is Unioto, who's a level above everyone else right now. Past that, I think it's interesting to look at the results within the head-to-head for sectional teams. For the sake of discussion, post your teams record within the sectional and who they played.
Athens: 3-3 (with a big game against Chillicothe coming up this week).
Wins vs: Waverly, Jackson, Gallia
Losses: Unioto, Warren, Marietta (each by a 1-0 scoreline)

I agree with soccerfanatic - Unioto all but has the #1 locked up and #2-#5 could go to Waverly, Warren, Chillicothe or Marietta depending on how things work out between now and the seeding meeting. And even then, that 4/5 game in the first round will be something!!
I think Marietta will end up being at a disadvantage due to the fact that they play so few of the SE district teams and there is not much body of work they have against the district. I have them right now at 2-2 in the district, with wins over Athens and Warren and losses to Warren and Chillicothe.
So many things can happen between now and whenever the meeting is to decide the tournament brackets.
To me, the real injustice is the fact that there are the 5 schools soccerfanatic mentioned (Unioto, Warren, Waverly, Chillicothe, Marietta), plus Athens that has played everyone very tough in the same side of the bracket, while on the other side of the bracket, looking at scores, it looks as though the top seeded team is going to have abut a .500 record or a little better. What is even worse is with only 7 teams on the other side of the bracket, the #1 seed on that side will get a first round bye, when if any team deserves a bye in the tournament it is clearly Unioto. All the more reason to do as bucknuts proposed earlier and seed 1-15 for the sake of competitive balance and fairness.

Waverly is 11-2 and 2-2 within the sectional.
Wins Jackson, Chillicothe
Losses Athens, Unioto
Both of Waverly's losses have been by 1 goal and they don't have any bad losses (depending on how you look at Athens) Their big wins include Circleville, Minford 2x, and South Webster.
It will be interesting come Sunday. I agree #2-#5 could go either way.

socman... Changed my previous post, sorry I hadn't included the Jackson game. It's a shame your game Marietta isn't until the last game of the season and after the meeting. It'll be hard to separate the two of you for one of those 3-5 spots.socman wrote:Waverly is 11-2 and 2-2 within the sectional.

Your loss to Athens really complicates things. I'm not looking to slam our own team, if Athens isn't in the discussion for anything higher for the #6 (unless Athens were to beat Chillicothe, #6 would be fair), it's going to be hard for Waverly to justify a #2 seed or even a #3 seed if you lost to a team at #6. It would be weird to have a team ranked 2 if they lost to the #6 team and it would seem odd to have Waverly at #3 playing #6 Athens if Athens beat Waverly in the head-to-head.
In terms of the best teams Athens has faced so far: 1. Unioto 2. Warren 3. Marietta
After that, it will take the next week to help decide who ranks out of the rest of the teams. We haven't played Chillicothe yet, but it seems like they're back to their usual good team this year. Man, it's going to be the most exciting/nerve fraying sectionals this year!
