D3 District Tournament

I noticed that the boys D3 district tournament is moved from Jackson to Athens this year. It seems like it has been at Jackson for quite a while.

The girls D3 tournament is still at Waverly.

Yes, the tournament has been at Jackson for about 10 years. Before that it was always held at Athens. They quit having it there because it was a natural grass football field which would turn into a mud pit after a rainy football Friday night. Now that Athens has turf I think it will be fine. A little further of a drive but a nice facility.

Yes, it is a nice facility, but a poor location for everyone in the district aside from Alexander. From Eastern Brown, North Adams, Chesapeake, etc. it is a haul to get to Athens. Somewhere like Valley, Waverly, or Chillicothe makes more geographical sense.
