Zane Trace won’t be easy. And Gallia will have a tough district final in my opinion. Nothing is for sure. A lot of crazy stuff has happened this season.

Burg should cake walk to the regional finals. Gallia may struggle to get to the regional, but they should get there. Unless Sylvia goes down for Burg, he’s too much for these other teams in the SE district. Heck of a player.

Belpre's schedule definitely held them back, thus the 7-seed. They do get to host a game though. They get Eastern (Brown County) who have some Warren connections this year with their new coach and goalkeeper.

Odd. So EB’s new soccer coach came from Warren? Son the goalie?

Yep— Andy Pinkerton alternated coaching the boys then the girls at Warren for most of the last decade. His son's a heck of a basketball player and hadn't played soccer for a few years, but decided to try out keeper this year. It's a shame the Eastern/Belpre game is the same time as the Jackson/Warren game, I'm sure several of the Warren boys would like to catch that one in person

Burg just beat ZT 5-0, well Sylvia did, but ZT only had 2 shots the entire game. I can’t see that being much closer than maybe 3-1 in a final, just because Chavez is good and the goalie is good for ZT

Unioto beat Fairland 5-0 early in the season and if they can beat Fairland again, Unioto is super beat up. Like, a minimum of 3 sophomore starters out for the year, leaving the remainder of the team to be freshmen and inexperienced upperclassmen. They can do it, but it’s been a rough season, so nothing would surprise me with them.

I’m just saying, I’d be shocked if it wasn’t Burg vs Gallia

Gonna just throw out thoughts on District Champs. It’s very chalky, but these new divisions and districts are set ver favorably for the favorites

Girls

Division V
Minford over Eastern Brown
Lynchburg-Clay over Fairfield

Division IV
Wheelersburg over McClain

Division III
Fairfield Union over Chillicothe

Boys

Division V
Minford over Ironton St. Joseph
South Webster over Lynchburg-Clay

Division IV
Wheelersburg over Zane Trace
Gallia Academy over Unioto

Division III
Chillicothe over Marietta

I’ll also guess that Wheelersburg boys get to the Final Four, Minford girls will have a very good chance.

My picks for the best games will be the D3 district finals in boys and SW/LC on the boys side as well. I also think Chillicothe vs Athens on the girls side could be very interesting. I also just did this in 10 minutes at 1:45 am after being very frustrated by the OSU game, so this could be way off.

Is it because Peebles scored for the first time in a month tonight?

When fairland gets a 3 seed then SE ohio soccer is bad bad. ZT and Unioto should have been #3, 4. Gallia Academy only wins by 1 or 2 vs Elm

How "close " do you think it will be?

As much as I pull for the SHAC in soccer I really don’t see the game between peebles and Minford being close… it would take a big off night on Minfords part and a perfect game for Peebles to compete. It’s the tournament and anything can happen I suppose.

I closely follow SOC teams and have watched about every team in the district play this season. Minford does a good job of putting their weaker players in at scores of 4-0 whereas most coaches keep the main group of players in until 7 or 8-0. It’s hurt them on paper, and I agree this game could be closer because of that. 3-1 final, I really doubt that will be the case, but if peebles packs the box and moves their best players to defense like Fairfield did at Minford, it may be close longer than even I expect.

Good luck to all the local Scioto county schools remaining and hopeful to see a state run from someone this year on either the boys or girls side!

Minford looked like a legit #1 seed. St. Joe a bit overrated. My take on tonight
