Adena High School adding soccer !!

I have been told that Adena High School is adding soccer ( club ) next fall.

I wish them the best of luck and hope that they can get both a boys and girls program going !

That is great news! It is good to see these smaller schools (Adena, Eastern-Pike, etc.) finally get on board with soccer!

Does this mean that there will be enough SVC teams to have soccer be considered an SVC sport as far as competing for a league title and an All-league team?

That's right...I forgot about Piketon! I wonder if they will have enough to field a team this year?

Someone told me they have quite a few kids interested and a new coach, so we'll see.

Last I heard, they graduated like 6 seniors and had no Junior High program in place...They must have a lot of kids that did not play last season if they have enough to play....

Westfall has a pretty decent sized Jr. High program. Hopefully, someone will step up and put in the time to get a HS program in place !!!!

I hope that is wrong too Amvets! They have a beautiful soccer complex at Piketon...It would be a shame for it to go to waste!
I was told that last year's Assistant Coach was going to be the new Head Coach, but I am fearful they won't have the numbers...

So, Westfall does not have a high school team? I thought they had a reserve team a few years back with the intention of turning it into a varsity team?

Westfall has added soccer at the JH level and are looking to build the program through that. It will be a club team through the school for the HS though.

I, for one, don't want to see an SVC in soccer, unless, they only play one round of league play. 8 league games would kill your non league schedule, IMO.

It is great that the other schools are expanding to soccer though and I wish them luck.

BTW, Piketon did not field a JH team last season and only had 10 players the year before, with 1 being 7th graders.

The Piketon High School Soccer Redstreaks Team Camp will be held July 21-25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camp is for students in grades 9-12 who want to play soccer at Piketon for the 2008 season.
