2nd Annual Waverly Summer League

Last year's inaugural league was a great success. Minford, Wheelersburg, Greenfield, Piketon, and 3 Waverly teams competed in the 7v7 (sometimes 8v8) league that took place every Thursday throughout June and most of July. Teams played 2 games every night.

Wheelersburg took home the championship this past year, can they repeat?

This year we would like to make it bigger and better, with the addition of a couple possible sponsorships we look forward to bringing more to the table. This is where the local soccer community comes in.

What changes or additions would you like to see?

Signups will be sent out to local schools, coaches, and players in the next couple months. Please pass the word around and start forming your teams! This is an excellent opportunity for players to play with their teammates and get important game-related touches in before the actual preseason and season!

Cost:
$150 per team - ideal size would be 10-12 players
$30 for individual sign up (individuals will be placed on a team prior to season beginning)

-Thursday nights from 4:00-8:30pm staring June 7th and running 6 weeks.
-Teams will play 2 games per evening and conclude with a round robin championship the last week.
-Only players entering grades 9-12 will be allowed to play
-7v7 on two 60x35 fields

Email or Mail a roster to me to reserve your spot. Registration fee is $150 and must be payed in full by the 1st game. Teams are guaranteed 10 games!

What changes or additions would you like to see?

I thought the summer league went well. Waverly was a good host for the league and things went relatively smooth. Keeping in mind that this is just a chance to let the kids play semi-organized soccer before the real practices begin, I don't really know what changes need to be made. As far as Burg repeating, it will be tough without the 4 SOCII first team players (3 of which received all-state honors) who were seniors.

Wheelersburg, Minford, McClain, Northwest, Portsmouth West, and 3 Waverly teams.

The games will be held at the old Waverly east elementary school fields (same as last year) Turn East on S. High St and follow it until it deadends into the fields.
