Eastern Brown 2 Lynchburg Clay 2 Excellent match between two very even teams. Great performances by the two keepers.

Unioto 2
Lancaster 2

Unioto finishes at 8-4-4 and played without Senior starter David Sparks who was out with a concussion. Well done by the young Shermans. They host Logan Elm in their tournament opener on Tuesday.

Both teams came out to play, but Clay was having trouble getting shots off and West had trouble finishing in the box. Possession time was pretty even and the game was called fairly. Heck of a game.

Anyone know the Eastern Brown-West Union score? The OHSAA website is showing a 9-1 win for West Union. I find that very hard to believe. West Union hadn't won a game all year and Eastern had beaten them 7-1 earlier. Anyone know the score?

Hilliard Darby @ Chillicothe

No doubt the best game Chillicothe played a year, especially the first half. The score was not very representative of the level of play between the two teams. Darby was up 1-0 at half but the score probably should have been tied, or Chilly up 1-0. Darby had 3 quality looks at the goal in the first half and capitalized on one. The Cavs had a few good chances themselves. Darby put 3 goals in the net in a span of 8 minutes early in the second half. I think the pace of play and physicalness of the first half took a great deal of energy from Chillicothe. Darby had played 16 games on that level... Chillicothe zero. There was nothing on Chillicothe's schedule to adequately prepare them for this game. Chillicothe had to compete "against itself" alot this year. Improvements to the schedule will have to be made in the off-season, but with 12 conference games you can only improve it so much. The OCC only plays each team one time which allows them for 9 non-conference games. That's a big advantage come tournament time. Geography and league play often straps the teams of the southeast district.

Darby was the better team in this game, no doubt... but Chillicothe was right there for 72 minutes. It is also important to note that while Darby was easily the best team Chillicothe saw this season, they were last in their division of the OCC. that speaks to the level of play in the Central District D1. Chillicothe knows what their level of play has to be next year to compete in post-season play.

It was a successful season.
