Soc Predictions for next year
Re: Soc Predictions for next year
Burg is always a contender...I just feel they won't be as strong as in years past....
Re: Soc Predictions for next year
The obvious favorite in SOC I would have to be South Webster. They won the conference last year having 5 freshmen in the starting line up, although they lost 4 starters. I still see them as the favorites because New Boston finished second and I believe they were a "senior dominated" team.
As for SOC II I see it being between Burg and Waverly, like it has been for the past 4 seasons. Both teams lost key players in Lyon and Barlow, but I look for some players to fill the gap and new stars to rise up to lead those teams.
Looking forward for another season

burgs senior class is pretty strong this year with White, Fight, Boggs, Provaznik, Robinson, and others. I look for them to do good this upcoming year.

Good post Keegan. Soccer in Southern Ohio is getting better. The players are seeing the importance of year round training. Thanks to the YMCA in Waverly and Tripple Crown in Chillicothe, many kids from SOC1 and SOC2 are keeping their foot skills sharp in the winter months.

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
The loss of Wes Lyon will be very very tough to overcome. As well, Wheelersburg did not have a very good JV team last year. Nonetheless, I remember reading a post before the last season claiming that the team was the least talented team that Boll had coached...and what happened? Burg won the SOC. Boll is an excellent coach, and as long as he is there Wheelersburg will contend for the title. I do expect it to be a race between Minford and Waverly, with Wheelersburg making it's presence felt as well.
Is Wes playing anywhere in college?

Burg will field a strong team. Good returning upper class. Current Freshman class will help out and they have a good 8th grade class coming in. I have heard that Dillon Lewis is considering coming to Burg. Anyone else hear this? Burg overall will be strong.

Wes Lyon has signed with Shawnee State. Heard that shawnee has got some interested people coming down to help improve their squad for the upcoming season

i did hear from a reliable source that lewis was coming to burg next year. Look for the burg to surprise a lot of people this year....

I wish Dillan luck no matter where he chooses to go, even if it is the Burg!
This will definitely hurt South Webster as he is a player you could build a team around...

I'm very sure that Dillan Lewis is going to burg. I think with his help burg will have a very strong team this year.

Something else, I don't think minford is going to be very good this year. Last year everyone thought that they were going to be the best. Now they've lost even more players. I know that Evan is coming back but one person(even Evan) won't help that much. The top three teams will definately be burg, minford and waverly, but I think that Wheelersburg will finish on top.

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
Minford did graduate a good amount of seniors, but they have a ton of talent coming back. Jake Hackworth should provide a lot of help if he stays healthy this year. As well, Justin Aeh will be healthy starting the year. I would have loved to see him play against the Burg the first game of last year. Kyle Newsome will be back to anchor the defense and he'll have some great help stepping up in Travis Huff. Huffs little brother will also be a huge spark for the Falcons.
Don't forget that the Falcons return Zach Barney and Cody Warren as well. Throw in Evan and the returning goalie Duncan Jordan and that seems like a pretty good lineup.
Minford's JV team was also quite good last year.
I still think that with the addition of the player from Webster that Wheerlersburg lost too much to win the league again next year. Everything ran through Wes Lyon last year, as it should have. But as I mentioned earlier, Coach Boll is the best coach in Southern Ohio and Wheelersburg will always be at or near the top with him as the head man.

maintenanceman, I'll have to disagree that things should run through your star player. I know Wes is a good player and I'm not disagree with that, I'm disagreeing with the point that soccer is a team sport and should consist of the whole team. I would say that the majority of the ball touches needs to go to your star; depending on where they play, but everything should not be ran through one player. The great teams should be able to find ways of moving the ball around and running an offense to include numerous players so they can deal with different situations thrown at them.

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
SOC II- 1.Burg. Seems like you never have to give a reason why, it's just Wheelersburg. Always reloading, and always fireing on all cylinders.
2.Minford- will be a few games behind the Burg, but don't count on them touching the burg this year, we've talked about the possibilities the past few years, but we have yet to see it, just count on Minford being a few wins behind the burg.
2.Waverly- Look for Waverly to be very strong again this year with a good class coming in, seems like I didn't hear a whole lot about the Tigers last year, I look for that to change this year

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
I know that losing Wes this year is going to hurt the burg. But last year after they lost 12 seniors they quickly reloaded and came out on top. I look for them to do the same this year. I do know that Waverly has a good class of young players, but I look for this year to be a building year for them. I think the SOC is up for grabs but burg will most likely come out on top.
Re: Soc Predictions for next year
Who are the players (other than Lewis) that will make Burg a contender in the SOC this year? I'm not saying they won't be, I'm just curious who you think will be starting for them at each position?
We got a good run-down of Minford starters, what about Burg and Waverly?

I really dont know about Waverley this year but I do know that burg will have most of their starters back other than 4 seniors. I think that Aaron White will play the center mid where Wes Lyon played last year.Ethan Fight will also be a outside mid or a foward. Robert Robinson Will be the goalie. Devin Boggs will be in the middle of the defence with Alex Provasnik and others at their sides. Lewis, like White can play almost anywhere he is needed. Kyle Brooks can also be a foward, with ahost of others. I look for the burg to fly under the radar and be a threat in the SOC this year
Re: Soc Predictions for next year
Burg's loss of Lyons will be felt as with any good senior, but the will be several who will step up. Scoring will come from several players. I see 5 possible scorers for the Burg this season. Waverly is well coached and will field a solid team. Good support from the jr high program.
