Does anyone know the last time Minford beat Burg? I have no idea. It has been at least 5 years. In 2002, when Minford won the SOC II outright, the Falcons lost to Burg once and tied them once. They haven't beaten them since then and I'm not sure when they beat them last before that. Anyone know?

Minford beat burg in 2000 once, 1-0, then lost 0-4 the second time they played.

I look for it to be the same this year.

Im going to get bashed for this one and dont get me wrong one bit, but I didn't think Lyons would have been half the player he was without the burg team behind him. Im not saying he wasn't an outstanding player, I just think the team brought Lyons' abilities out alot more so than if he was playing for another team.

Im still racking my brains for a prediction in the socI. obviously SW is a no brainer, but still thinking about 2-4.

I'm not going to bash you, but I will respectfully disagree.

I think last year showed truly how good Wes was. I remember watching him play with Drew Sampson and wondering if Drew was making Wes better. Last season Wes established himself as a player who makes everyone around him better. Maybe that's not the best way of phrasing it but Wes is a fantastic player.

Wes was a player that you could build a team around. But this year I don't think the burg will need to build the team around one player. I know of 5 players that can all score and work the ball very well together. I think that this year you will see changes in the way burg gets the ball in the net.

I agree with soccerdude. Wes was a player that you could build a team around, but like soccerdude said that wont be the case this year. (Soccer is more of a team sport anyway.) The burg has a lot of players that will be able to put the ball in the net. Such as White, Fight, Lewis, Brooks, and a couple of other underclassman. Who were the players in the the SOC last year that made all-state?

In Div II Will Barlow from Waverly was 3rd team all state.

In Div III Wes Lyons from Burg was 1st team all state. Aaron White was 3rd team all state.

I think, I was trying to say something along the lines of what soccerdude has. Wes is a tremendous player, and has done very good things while at the Burg,

My next questions is..who's going to be the next big time player at the burg, it seems to me like you go throughout the years, and every soo many years there is a big time player standing out, and being that "player to build the team around"

like i already said, i dont really think that burg will have just one player that will stand out, i think 4 players will really stand out this year. If I did have to pick, I think Aaron White will be the one to stand out the most.

Like soccerdude said the burg will have a couple of players that will get the job done. In the past it has been Craft, Sampson, Lyon, and others. I think every team needs a player that you can count on. Like soccerdude said Aaron White will be that guy for the burg this year with the the help of others.

OK...we have covered Burg!!
What about the rest of the SOC? Who do you think will make an impact on Waverly's squad this year?

I really dont know much about Waverley. I know that they lost a couple of seniors along with Barlow. Barlow was for Waverley like Wes was for the burg. I dont know who will step in at that role for Waverley like someone for the burg.

PCOhio,

As we discussed earlier, I think the current 8th graders and future freshman could play a huge role for the Tigers. The freshman that graduated in 2006 (2 or 3 time SOC champs) had huge freshman years. Purpero and Holmes were very successful their first year at Waverly. I would have loved to see Waverly had Holmes stayed there.

So what you are saying is that the freshman class at Waverly is going to carry that team this year. That freshman class must be VERY good. How is there senior class?

I think Waverly will be lead by their Junior and Sophmore class next season...The senior class is big, but not as strong as the younger guys with Isaac Blanford being the exception. With the loss of Boyer, Isaac will have to be more of a leader this year!
I look for big years from Harrison Martin (Sophmore), Tyler Halterman (Sophmore), Rheadon Remy (Junior) and Nick Moore (Junior Keeper)...
Actually, the Freshmen class will be one of the strongest Waverly has had in a while...They won the Unioto Tournament as 8th Graders and only lost one match the entire season! I'm not saying they will "carry" the team, but I look for a few of these guys to play a big roles this year...

It is difficult for any freshman class to carry the team and I'm not saying they will. I completely agree with PCohio. I have followed this class for a bit and know that this class has more soccer experience, and maybe even have played at a higher level, than many seniors in the SOC right now. They've played together forever, and have played club, 3v3 and many other things. If a few of them can step up then watch out for Waverly.

Who will be playing between the pipes for the Tigers, did Hopkins graduate?

Yes, Hopkins graduates this year...Nick Moore (Junior) already has a ton of experience and should be the starter...
