Re: SOC Scores and Standings
I don't think anyone has complained about scores this year.
With the diversity in teams, 3 or 4 goals a half isn't bad. Usually you can see when a team backs off - their coach gets the key player out of the game.
The smaller schools have up years and down years and that is just part of it. Clay has new coaches & they played like a different team when I saw them. I think they are heading the right direction.

Re: SOC Scores and Standings
At the west vs minford game tuesday night the goal keeper for west ( Zach Johnson ) dedicated a new flag pole at the soccer field, as a boy scout he was earning his eagle scout badge. He went out and got donations from area buisnesses and erected the pole himself. I was very impressed by Zach. If someone from west who knows Zach reads this please let him know that the minford fans were very impressed!!!!!
Re: SOC Scores and Standings
I was impressed by South Websters keeper he made a few great saves vs Northwest tues. To keep a shut out, could have easily been 3-4 to 7 if not for those great saves.

Re: SOC Scores and Standings
I agree, I haven't seen anyone complain about the scores. There was an issue last year with rough play at the end of 8 - 0 game. As for Clay, they scored three goals (all by Valentine) in the first half when he took 9 shots. He only took 2 shots in the second half. 7 of the 9 goals were scored off of assist (one was a PK). 2 players socred their first career goals. South Point played hard but has so many girls on their squad I don't understand why they don't just play in the girls league.vballsoccer178 wrote:I don't think anyone has complained about scores this year.

_____ wrote:clay beat south point 9-0, well seems some school is being a little hypocritical. After complaining about teams running the score up on them, they seem to have no problem doing the same thing to others. Lets see how they perform against quality competition. How have they faired against other soc schools so far?
Not sure how well you actually follow the games, but I couldn't find any complaints about the scores and SW is the only SOC team they have played. Overall they are 2 - 1 - 0 with wins over West Union and South Point. I guess tomorrow night we will have an answer with the NB game.

Re: SOC Scores and Standings
I meant as an all girls team. They had about 25 kids on their roster, and it appeared to me they had enough to fill a girls only team, not sure if they could stilll field a boys team. I heard last year that after the season was over they enetered into tourney play as an all girls team, but never heard how they did. They have some good tough female players on the squad.
Re: SOC Scores and Standings
SP lost their first ever girls game to the #1 seed Eastern Brown. SP was seeded last because they had no games obviously as a girls team. I am sure we could have beaten some of the teams in our bracket, but that is what happens. We really don't have enough boys or girls to have their own team with subs. So it is what it is!

Re: SOC Scores and Standings
SP played hard against Clay and have a good group of players, They struggled staying onsides. Several times they were offsides by 10 yards and the coach didn't tell them to get back.
SP fall into that category where they are just big enough to have football, but don't have enough boys left over for soccer. Same goes for the Burg, West, Valley. A team like South Webster that can field all boys, with no football loss of athletes can and will dominate the co-ed teams in our area. I think Minford has all boys and a girls team but they too lose their better athletes to football.

How long has south point been in the soc for soccer, I will let someone else comment on Minford losing their best athletes to football. And by the way the reason I looked on here any way was to see some game scores.

Re: SOC Scores and Standings
SP is not in the SOC. I see your point and didn't mean that the athletes playing soccer are not perhaps the best in any given school, but the fact that many of these schools lose 50+ players to football severely hampers their possible soccer squads. As for scores, no one seems to be posting them.Jeepoholic wrote:How long has south point been in the soc for soccer, I will let someone else comment on Minford losing their best athletes to football. Re: SOC Scores and Standings
One of the SP players told me that they had 3 boy starters not make grades. I don't know this for sure but that will kill anyones team. This is a huge problem at sp right now. Kids just dont care.

Valley's keeper made some good saves, but sw kept hammering away. They finally pulled together as a team in the 2nd half and put more quality shots on goal. As usual, South Webster's defense played well. They are strong in the air, tough, & quick.

Waverly 1 Unioto 1
Waverly outshot Unioto 15-9 and controlled the majority of the match. Unioto played great defense and their keeper made a couple big saves. Very good match by two strong teams.
