The SOC Senior game and awards presentations will be at Wheelersburg on Monday 11/2 @ 7:00PM. All seniors from all teams are invited to play. Bring both jerseys because teams will be divided just before the match

Disagree with defensive players of the year in both leagues. Drew Dutiel in SOC 1 and Mason Harris in SOC 2 should have received the award.

Not sure what stats were used in determining the SOC 2 Defensive player of the year, but Mason Harris from Minford would be a great choice. Ian Tolle from Minford would also be a good candidate, as well as Jacob Perry. Hard to throw Perry in but hard to leave him out. As a midfielder you play a little bit of offense and defense. So with these 2 player of the year titles a midfielder gets left out at times. Notice a midfielder didn't win anything in SOC 1 or SOC 2.
Bragdon from West probably had more saves then any other keeper in the area, but also had more shots taken on him than any other keeper. If that stat is what awarded him poy then one would have to guess that any future keeper on a team that finishes last will win defensive poy. Nothing against Bragdon, he is a fine player and clearly the best on that squad.
And on the girls Defensive POY I think Aspen Lambert would also make an excellent choice.

Is the all star game coed or seperate boys and girls games?

Goalies and strikers tend to get these PoYs. It's because they are stat builders. I'm sure each one listed had enough case to win it.

Thought with the strong defense Minford had, Gullett would have gotten a first team selection. Harris, Tolle, Perry and Gullett definitely kept Minford in games and all could have received defensive POY consideration.

I agree Gullett should have made the first team selection. The defense is what kept them in a lot of games.
Also don't know where the keeper for Northwest , Zack Smith, was at in the selections. Northwest posts their best record in a few years and the goalie didn't even get a 2nd team seletion?!

That is incorrect. It is a coed game.

Agree Drew Dutiel or Trevor Coriell should have gotten defense!

A conference title does not always translate into having the dominant offensive and defensive players in the area. The conference championship shows that the heralded team had the best record. There could be an outstanding player on a team that finishes 2nd, 3rd.... or last and be the offensive or defensive player of the year. Key note Nathan Bragdon, SOC 2 Defensive Player of the Year. Congratulations to the kids who got awarded to the Conference teams.

Voting is done by each coach, each team gets a certain amount of votes based on their standings.. I agree with the defensive players of the year.. Yes, it usually goes to a goalie but the coaches also vote on this..Bragdon was the best all around goalie in the league.. West wasn't great but he helped them stay competitive every game.. 195 saves and 33 goals against isn't anything to argue with.. Just because they didn't win doesn't mean he wasn't great.. You can throw anyone on a team like burg or Sw and be successful with 5-8 saves a game..
