New division numbers

Post by goUK »

the new division assignments come may 1st

Piketon dropped 14 boys and also would be d3

SP dropped 20 boys which would drop to d3

Portsmouth would be d3 as well if they start a team

Zane Trace would go up to 2

Alexander will be close

Northwest dropped 36 boys to 192 they might drop

Division Enrollment Schools
I 400 and more 185
II 211 to 399 184
III 210 and less 183
Total Schools 552

I'd say D3 will be 200 boys instead of 210.

Anyone else think we should maybe have a 4th division?
How many divisions do we have in football, baseball and basketball?

6 in football
4 in basketball and baseball

There aren't enough teams to warrent a 4th division. It just went to 3 divisions around 2000.

With as many new teams added to boys soccer the last couple of years and this upcoming year, it is just a matter of time. Maybe when the next enrollment figures comes out. My guess is 2011.

We will see how many teams are added this year, but I would say the jump to a 4th division will more likely happen around 2013 or 2014.

We had 552 teams last year and need to have 700 teams to add a 4th division.

In 1981 Soccer added a Second Division. It wasn't until 2000 (19 years for those mathematically challenged) that we added a third division. I would expect a 4th division to happen sooner than 19 years, but no one never knows.

Wasn't it 500 teams for three divisions? I remember when it was just about 5-6 teams short, they wouldn't change then... They insisted on waiting absolutely as long as possible before being forced to added the third division.

Yes the magic number for a third division was 500. They (the OHSAA) will not change the numbers to help us out. But they do wave the 1 year waiting period for adding a division. They did so with the boys.

Boys Soccer
Division Enrollment Schools
I 405 and more 184 teams
II 211 to 404 185 teams
III 210 and less 184 teams

The 210 cutoff stayed the same.
