Why doesn't Portsmouth have a Soccer team ? I know there are blue lines on the new field i assume there for Soccer ! I have heard boys at Portsmouth say they would play if there was a team. I know it cost money but it's not that high. They would have a chance to get into a different sports league if they had it so why don't they have it ?

it would be great to see portsmouth with a high school team. they have a rec league and have worked at that for many years. however, they loose kids as they get older because there is no high school future. with budgets where they are now i do not see anyone adding a new sport in the near future. who wouldn't love to play at the new stadium.

I agree Portsmouth doesn't have the money to just throw around but the facility is there iv'e heard about 8 kids who said they would play i guess travel and to buy uniforms, balls, goal,nets cost $ but i wish the kids could have a team like they want !

Maybe there were some thoughts of getting some SSU games in the new stadium when it was built? Now that SSU has their own turf field, that will probably never happen, but it would be a great place to play. As mentioned, Portsmouth does have youth soccer, but the numbers fall off as the kids get older because there is no high school program to go to. As us older people remember, the Portsmouth YMCA was the beginning of soccer in Scioto Co. and it would be great if Portsmouth could manage to bring soccer back.
