The team is coming off a very tough season in '08, when it finished 2-16 overall and 1-10 in AMC.
Steven Cox led SSU with 4 goals and 1 assist. Wheelersburg H.S. alum Drew Sampson had 1 goal and 3 assists. Both of them should be back.
Lot of youth on the roster last season with 15 freshmen and 6 sophomores. 10 juniors and seniors total.
Hopefully a little more seasoning and experience will mean some more wins for SSU this season. The AMC is a very tough conference, one of the best in the NAIA.

Does Shawnee State have a new coach this year? Girls or boys?

According to the school's website, Ron Goodson is still listed as the men's coach. He's been there since 2000.

Mexican International? Is that the group of mexicans who play down by the stadium? I hope so!

They have like a 9 team league from Portsmouth, Ashland and Huntington I was told. So they had like a all-star team play a pick up match against Shawnee. I watched them play about a month ago, the Mexican teams had some really talented players. Wonder who scored for Shawnee?

Michael Meadows, #20, scored two of the goals. He played the final 12 minutes of the first half and the final 15 minutes of the second half. His goals came back-to-back in the final 15 minutes.
The Bears have another friendly this Saturday, Aug.19, with another hispanic team.
