Athens will be traveling up to Lancaster tonight to take on the Golden Gales of Lancaster. It should be an exciting game as usual.
The varsity game is a part of "Shoot for the Cure" series. "Shoot for the Cure" is a soccer themed charity that raises money and awareness for breast cancer research. As a part of the festivities for the game, both teams will be wearing pink themed jerseys and using pink game balls. Proceeds from t-shirt sales, the purchase and sale of the game balls, and donations from the game will all be given to charities associated with breast cancer research and awareness programs.
Thanks to Lancaster for hosting the event and glad to see Athens taking part in a worthy cause like this. Good luck to both teams tonight!

Athens 2 - Lancaster 1
Great game, as it usually is between these two teams. Gutsy performance from Athens and a big win over a good DI program.
Thanks to Lancaster and Lancaster Coach Kent Conklin for putting on such a great event to raise money for breast cancer research.

Wow that is great that athens was able to defeat such a large school as lancaster. Huge win.
Hopefully teams in this area will be able to scheduale harder opponents so we can start the long treck to being on the same level as the columbus schools. And it benefited breast cancer, a win/win.
