It shouldn't have been that close. Marietta has a tendency to play to the level of the opponents and they get bit every once in a while. Should be a couple of good games this week. I hope Marietta shows up to play.

I hear there is no game tonight - only one official showed up. What a waste of time, gas and money for marietta. Marietta stayed for 90 minutes after the scheduled start time, but still only one official.

Sounds like someone really dropped the ball besides the one ref who didn"t show. Why does it take 90 minutes to make a decision. Where's the AD? Who's in charge? Awfully long trip for Marietta parents for nothing. Don't worry Chilly families, there will be 3, I repeat 3 refs in Marietta on Thursday. I have always hated a 2 ref systemin high school. It shouldn't be allowed. I believe most people will agree.

Very tough night for everyone.......... fans, players, coaches, parents.
Apparently the official who was scheduled to do the game wrote the date down as tomorrow. (wed) He was doing another game in Ironton. Tonight was a make-up game and officials were hard to come by anyway. The missing official accepted the contract and was confirmed yesterday. All attempts to get another official were fruitless.
The reason Marietta stayed around so long was because it was such an important game for both teams. This game has both league championship and tournament seeding implications. Both coaches (along with the one official) agreed upon a set time to wait to make every attempt to play the game.
It's very unfortunate.
Chillicothe will travel to Marietta Thursday. Its doubtful the second game between these teams will get played, and if it does it would be after the tournament seeding has taken place. There are very few good make-up dates until then.
Thursday's game just got much bigger.

Again, let me say that with a 3 ref system if one should happen not to show the game could still be played.
I'm hearing that this is the third time this has happened. Hmmm, I think the Chilly and the ad are responsible.

Some lower skill games can be done with a two man system. A game of this skill level should never be done with a two man. Its not fair to the kids.

Twice to Chilly and twice no game. I would not go back this year. Let them come to Marietta twice. Long way to go and alot of travel expenses and not alot to see in Chilly.

Careful,
Marietta may still have to come to Chillicothe for tournaments. (Of course if they decided not to that would be fine)

Ok I know that it was a long drive for nothing. However would any of the negative people on line been happy had there been a lightning strike while the boys were playing on the first scheduled night. I think not. The coaches and AD would have been hung out to dry.
On last nights game, there were two officials contracted to work the game. What would you expect the folks at Chillicothe to do go to the refs home and pick them up?
I do feel for the people who made the trip from marietta and did not get to see what should have been a very competitive soccer game. But no matter how hard you want to you can't blame the lightning the first time on Chillicothe.
