What is the best tournament result in your school's history?

Post by danicalifornia »

Simple question. What is the best tournament run that your school has made?

For the Unioto boys, it's 2004(17-3-2), when they reached the Final Four in D3. Losing 3-1 to CHCA.

Also, in 2002(19-1-1), reached the Regional Finals. 1999(13-4-2) was our best D2 finish, reaching the District Finals.

For the Unioto girls, it was last season, where they reached the District Finals. Hopefully this changes in about a week!

So let's hear about some of the great teams in your school's history

Last season, the South Webster Jeeps made it to the regional finals.
They lost to the eventual state champions, Worthington Christian, 2-1.

South Point Soccer,
You are correct!
South Point did lose to Wheelersburg in the District finals in 1998.
That was a very good, close game. South Point played really well that game.

Alexander in 92 made it to Regional Finals and played Columbus DeSales.
Lost 2-0.
DeSales went on to win State that year.
Other than that - 6 District titles, in each case losing in Regional semis

Wheelersburg 1994, 21-1, Regional finals lost 2-0 to Enon Greenon.

New Boston 1987, 21-1, 'District Finals' lost 3-2 to Rosecrans--equal to todays' regional finals as winner advanced to state final four.

Minford 1984, 15-2, lost in 'District finals' (Elite eight) to eventual state champions Cincinnati McNichols, 7-1 (or 8-1).

Valley, 1998, 16-4-2, lost in state semi final to Canal Fulton Northwest, 7-2.

Northwest 1993, 15-3-2, lost in Regional semi-final to Dayton Bellbrook, 5-1.

I think that South Point was undefeated (a couple of ties) in 1998 prior to the district finals.

Ironton St. Joseph was undefeated in 1999 and made it to the District semi-finals where they lost to Wheelersburg something like 5-0.

Dr. Rabbit,

Didn't Minford make the Regional final, elite 8, in 2008 as well?
I believe they lost to Worthington Christian.

Yes in '08 Minford advanced to the elite eight and lost 4-0 to Worthington Christian.

4th and Goal--if you were at that game, was it 7-1 or 8-1? Minford stats has it listed at 8-1 but it was reported in the paper as 7-1. But it is not like a newspaper is ever wrong...

Marietta has won 7 District Championships:
1991
1994
1995
1996
1997
2007
2009

On each occasion Marietta has lost in the regional semi-finals, 3 times to the eventual State Champions (1991, 1994, 2009)

However far Peebles goes from here is our best result ever. This season marks our first sectional championship in the sport.

I should already have the information in the year book if the Minford hs library has a copy of that year. I copied them years ago. But feel free to look and let me know what they show.

Congrats Peebles! I see where the Mustangs defeated the Indians early in the year in Lynchburg 6-2. Good Luck Monday!
