The results should have been published in the book that is printed in conjunction with the senior all stars game that happened over a week ago. Does anyone have a copy of that book that can take a picture of the page/pages and post it?

Does all-district mean anything when struggling teams get three or four kids on all-district? It's not just soccer, it's the same in baseball and softball. These lists are totally watered down and diminish the accomplishment of those who truly deserve the honor.

Agreed completely. There have been teams in the past that should've had 3-4 1st teamers, but teams they would dominate would get the same amount of players on 1st team. It's crazy how we do All District teams.

The MEDIA waters down Football and Basketball. That is the worst of all picks! Football has 7 divisions and there are kids on the District team that don't even make All-League.

All the district lists, whether media or coaches, have a lot more kids on them than they did back in the 1970s and 1980s.

The soccer, baseball and softball lists are the worst. You have a soccer team that goes 4-13, winning a little more than 30 percent of their matches, and they get four kids out of 11 starters on all-district.

Now let's look at a 4-6 football team that has won 40 percent of its games, and they get four kids out of 22 starting spots. Which is more watered down?

I don't mind rewarding good teams. Some folks would probably accuse me of watering it down in that regard, but at least these are good teams and I can buy into rewarding those kids for a good season. The line should be drawn with giving sub .500 teams four all-district players in sports with 11 or fewer starters.

And don't get me started on all-league lists. I haven't met a coach yet who doesn't complain about politics and all-league honors.

It is my understanding in the All-District selections, each win is worth points (DI- 5pts; DII 4 pts; DIII- 3pts); a SO is worth a bonus point; then at the district meeting they have point values for 1st/2nd and HM... so coaches or whomever is voting then uses their points from the season to place their players in spots... then voted on... SO,

a team that is 8-8, but has 3 wins against DI schools, and 5 against DII schools, 5 of them shut outs... 40 points
a team that is 13-3, but only plays DIII schools, 1 shut out... 40 points

Is is fair, or does it pay to play better/bigger schools?

I am not sure where this kind of formula came from, but I don't believe that is accurate at all.

This is the way the EAST DISTRICT does it... at least I believe so, as I am not an AD or coach. I have helped prep the paperwork though!

Ok....that makes sense then. I didn't see where you mentioned the east district, so I was thrown off a little. To answer your question, it may not pay to play the bigger better schools IF your goal is to get kids nominated onto all district teams. But if you want to better your program and increase the odds of a decent tournament run, playing the bigger/better schools is always the right thing to do.

Of course on the other side, even a great player still has to be nominated to get an award.
