State Poll 9/8/14

Post by 4thgoal »

Zane Trace boys at D3 #9 and Burg received some votes. On the girls side, St. Joe still received some votes again. Just good to see some teams from our area getting some attention from the voters!

Lynsey Booker of St. Joseph is 3rd in state in scoring... for all divisions. Great Job! Could have had a lot more tonight, but kept passing to let others score.

Surprised that Jackson girls have not received any recognition in polls. Currently 7-0-0. Junior Kate Exline scored 30+ goals last season, Peyton Miller had 20+ assists last season-committed to play at Marshall University. May be a weak SEOAL league but that certainly should not shun those girls or the team from recognition. Solid team with fielding several year-round club players.

Many schools in our area do not post stats on OSSCA and I'm sure many across the state don't either. She is a fine player, but probably not that high in the state in scoring.

I agree with soccermania. Jackson may be the best team we ( Unioto ) have faced this season. Having played Bishop Hartley last Saturday ( while on grass ) I think they are pretty even. I think being in the southern part of the state doesn't give teams much recognition. Also, congrats to the young lady from St. Joe's and their team on their success.

In regards to the OSSCA website it is a shame that more coaches do not utilize this tool. It sure would come in handy come tournament seeding time and season ending awards.

Best of luck to all teams the rest of the season !

I agree 100%. If rating officials is required by coaches, it should be required that the stats are entered on OSSCA. Very good points about tournament seeding and post season awards.

Not required by coaches. Required by the school, meaning that someone from within the school has to rate the officials. At our school, the AD rates them.

On the OSSCA website, Lynsey Booker of Ironton St . Joseph is tied for first 2 other girls with 19 goals. Sidney Payne of ISJ was also on the list with 12.
There were quite a variety of schools listed, but I'm sure you're correct in saying that not every school's coaches enter stats.

Thanks for point that out. I missed that one! Very impressive that they have had 17 different girls score as well.

Yes. They are very solid. They play 20 girls in games. Many times, the substitutes come in and the team gets better. They have a JV team so there are over 30 girls playing soccer.

Actually, you are being mislead, Coaches rate officials, AD's get a favorite list of 15 officials. If this is not happening at your school is in violation of OHSAA regulations, which is clearly listed.

Jackson girls also #10 in D2. Zane Trace boys boys up to 8th in D3 as well. Always an honor to be mentioned in the coaches poll!
