This will be the first girls soccer preview in our area (to the best of my knowledge) on August 16 at Portsmouth West

10:00 Minford vs. St. Joseph
11:00 Wheelersburg vs. South Point
12:00 Chesapeake vs. West
1:00 Northwest vs. Fairland

This will be the first season for both Wheelersburg and Fairland girls soccer.

Great for the sport...Fantastic for our girls. Not sure about the other teams, but St. Joseph is only a second year program. Good luck to all!!

Saw St. Joe's @ the Waverly 7v7. They had a pretty decent group. Is Dave Munion still @ Minford ? Was told he left. Big loss for them if he did. Nice to see the girls side growing. Good luck to all the teams this season.

Shane Tieman is the new coach at Minford. I know West was also looking for a new coach, but I did not see who received the job. St. Joe is only a 2nd year program, but they have far more experienced players than most teams in the area with the girls that play EKFC.

I think the OVC should let St. Joe join for soccer in both boys and girls. This would allow those athletes to be able to work toward a championship.

I agree with unclebob. Not being in a conference really hurts St. Joseph. Coach Miller, can we get this done?

this is great to see this sport growing. i wouldve liked to see the two leagues making more of an effort to have girls soccer as an official sport in each conference, or combining conferences for a single champion. OVC doesnt support boys soccer yet either. I agree and understand that there are new teams this year, but it could have been completed this summer.

SOC stepped up this year and made girls soccer a conference sport. Minford, West, Northwest, Wheelersburg will be playing for conference title this year. Would like to see more schools give their girls same opportunity.
